At King's College of Teaching (KCOT), our passion for education and faith converge to shape exceptional educators. We are dedicated to equipping aspiring teachers with a strong foundation in pedagogical skills where they experience an apprenticeship approach to teaching while nurturing their spiritual growth and instilling Christian values.
The KCOT Program
From the beginning of their training, pre-service teachers will have the opportunity to experience the role of a teacher within a nurturing Christian school environment. Aspiring educators will be able to step into the classroom from the commencement of their degree and receive mentorship and support dedicated to overseeing their spiritual growth and wellbeing.
As a part of their educational journey, pre-service teachers will spend time at a number of different schools, fostering adaptability and equipping them with a comprehensive set of skills essential to becoming outstanding teachers.
A broad community of support will be available to pre-service teachers from our mentor teachers, lecturers from Christian Heritage College and college-based staff who are dedicated to overseeing their spiritual growth and wellbeing. They will also be presented with the unique opportunity to participate in staff worship and teacher training worship services, further enriching their spiritual growth.
Faith-Focused Partnerships
King’s College of Teaching partners with Christian Heritage College (CHC) and Alphacrucis University College (AUC) to offer quality Christ-centred Education degrees through a range of accredited courses. Mentoring for Success
Mentor teachers take a Christ-centred approach to provide support and guidance to pre-service teachers, who are immersed in the classroom from the commencement of their degree. Our King's College of Teaching mentors develop an enriched learning environment for pre-service teachers by modelling exemplary teaching, offering meaningful feedback and working collaboratively on tasks.
Immediate on-the-job application of theory allows pre-service teachers to develop a strong skill set through the mentor teacher program. By immersing themselves in the classroom, they embark on a transformative journey, refining their skills under the guidance of experienced mentors. This hands-on approach fosters their growth, equipping them with the practical expertise and confidence needed to excel as educators.
Empowering Teachers
Pre-service teachers have the opportunity to work as paid training teachers alongside a mentor teacher within either of our Reedy Creek, Pimpama or Logan Village campuses. Throughout their degree, they will complete 350 days of school-based experience in several schools, providing a comprehensive and varied teaching experience.
Face-to-face bespoke training sessions (insight lessons) allow pre-service teachers to thoroughly prepare them for all aspects of the classroom. This takes place once a week from our King's Pimpama campus.
During their course, pre-service teachers are supported through individualised care, wellbeing support and spiritual mentoring. Teachers will have access to a personalised and interactive learning platform, empowering them to manage and reflect upon their educational journey.
