Welcome to our inaugural newsletter!
Aren’t our King’s kids amazing! Term 1 saw our children grow in confidence and in the love of learning. It is so pleasing to see and hear of children loving to read as it is foundational for academic growth.
Our nightly home reading is really producing great results and we are tremendously grateful for the partnership we have with parents in seeing this occur each night.
The rigour presented by teachers in daily lessons encourages resilience, reflectiveness, reciprocity, resourcefulness and we can see these developing in students every day.
After school sport has been a real hit with students and this will continue throughout the year. We love seeing children exercise and build physical skills and fitness.
Thank you parents for everything you do to deliver your children into our care each day and in the way you have been overwhelmingly positive and affirming in your feedback.
Our greatest hope for your children and your families is to know our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and the transformative power that is found in Him.
Mr Peter Fossey
Head of Primary
Mr Fossey joined King’s Christian College in 2018, bringing with him more than three decades of experience. He started teaching at King’s Reedy Creek campus, became a Coordinator in 2019 and went on to pioneer King’s Logan Village campus in 2020 as Head of Primary.
Prior to King’s, Mr Fossey was at Christian College Geelong for 17 years and Ballarat Grammar for 10 years.
Mr Fossey has a Bachelor of Arts (Ed.) Physical Education from Deakin University and Bachelor of Education from Federation University Australia.
Did you know that Mr Fossey was an accomplished athlete and competed in the 1986 Commonwealth Games in the Decathlon? He is also the Vice President of Athletics International Australia.
Mr Fossey resides on the Gold Coast with his wife Annette. He has four adult children (Hayden, Megan, Stephen and Stewart) and three grandchildren (Billy, Ruby and Jordan).
King’s Christian College marked a milestone day on 4 May, as all three campuses held building opening ceremonies attended by State and Federal Members of Parliament, local councillors, church elders and executive pastors, members of the College board, principals, ISQ (Independent Schools Queensland) and BGA (Block Grant Authority) representatives, and other special guests.
King’s Christian College Logan Village was officially opened by the Honourable Alan Tudge MP, Federal Minister for Education and Youth, and Bert van Manen MP, Federal Member for Forde.
Guests included Linus Power MP (Member for Logan), Councillor Scott Brannan (Division 9), Councillor Laurie Koranski (Division 4) and Phil Pidgeon (Former Division 9 Councillor who was very supportive during King’s planning phase).
Lorraine Oswald, Group Head of Primary said, “King’s Christian College Logan Village is so grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from the Federal Government as well as our local community business and church leaders.
“A community’s children are their most precious treasures. They say it takes a village to raise a child. The enormous success of King’s academic, cultural, sporting, character and spiritual development has not been achieved overnight. Its progress has been overseen by the school board, men and women of faith and vision who are the unseen force ensuring our success. Our dedicated and caring staff, including those working tirelessly behind the scenes, ensure great things are happening in our classrooms, to educate our students for the future.”
King’s Christian College embarked on the campus at Logan Village with aid from the Federal Government’s Capital Grants Program. The official opening commemorated the first Primary building designed by architect Simon Brook from Burling Brown and built with excellence by Dave Harney Constructions. The Primary building consists of six classrooms, an atrium, amenities and storage. The College will continue to build according to its master plan with the eventual capacity to educate 1800 students a year at its Logan Village campus.
King’s Christian College Logan Village currently caters for 164 students in Prep to Year 4. An additional year level will be added each year, with High School (Year 7) commencing in 2024. The College also has 118 children enrolled at its onsite Early Learning Centre, affectionately known as 'Noah’s Ark'. Two additional early learning rooms will open later this year.
Welcome to Mrs Niemeijer who has joined us from King’s Pimpama campus.
Mrs Niemeijer has been a part of the King's family since 2008 when her eldest daughter Katja (now Year 11) joined Noah's Ark as a Possum. Her youngest daughter Tijana started as a Joey and is now in Year 8.
Mrs Niemeijer has worked at all three King's campuses in various administration roles.
“I love the King's family with all my heart! I was part of the pioneering Pimpama campus team in 2015 and loved watching the campus grow over the last six years.
“Your children have welcomed me with open hearts and arms. My Lego creation collection is growing as students are building little gifts for me daily to adorn my reception wall. Your children call me 'Mrs Nemo' and love showing me their artwork or Lego creations.
“We truly have the best kids in the world, as Mrs Oswald always loves to remind us.
“Please feel free to pop in as I get to know all of you by name. Our Primary Reception is the central sign-in for classroom volunteers and late students. I am conveniently located right at the entrance to our primary classrooms.”
We had an overwhelming response to our call out to parents to volunteer as Class Coordinators, and truly value our community’s willingness to ensure our classroom teachers and students are well supported throughout the year. A letter has gone out to parents advising who has been appointed as the Class Coordinator for their child’s class, along with their contact details. Ask your child’s teacher for details if you are still unsure who is your Class Coordinator.
The role of the Class Coordinator involves helping our teachers by coordinating parent volunteers, as well as helping our class families feel more connected with one another and with the college community. They may also coordinate a class birthday and Christmas present for the teacher.
Make sure you provide your contact details to your Class Coordinator if you would like to be involved, so they can keep you up to date.
There is also a Facebook group for every year level at King’s. These groups are not closely monitored by King’s but they are useful for Class Coordinators and parents to post reminders or share details for social activities.
If you are available to help in the classroom, please let your Class Coordinator know!
Academic Scholarships are available at King's Logan Village to students entering Years 4 and 5 in 2022.
Exams will take place at King's Pimpama campus on Saturday, 5 June at 9am

Thank you to our 350 King's parents who took the time to provide feedback on our upgraded Compass parent app. Following feedback from our parent survey last October, we have implemented changes to the app with the aim of providing easier, more intuitive access to Compass information. 90% of parents reported that information in Compass is now easier to find, and overall satisfaction with using Compass increased from 3.5 to 4.12 (out of 5) stars.
Congratulations to Emily, a Prep parent at our Reedy Creek campus, who was randomly selected from survey respondents as the winner of a new King’s softshell jacket, which can be worn with either the formal or sports uniform. We look forward to making further improvements to our Compass platform from your most recent feedback.
You can access Compass Help through our online services menu for tutorials/videos on how to navigate and customise your preferences when using Compass.
