The theme for primary chapels this term is 'Finding Jesus'. Ideas and concepts from the much loved movies Finding Nemo and Finding Dory are creatively used to teach Bible truths in a fun and engaging way, encouraging children to "Seek first God's kingdom and His ways". Matthew 6:33
Mr Peter Malcolm and the chaplaincy team extend an open invitation to parents to attend our weekly chapel programs, held in the auditorium.
Prep - Year 2: Friday, 10:00-10:45
Year 3 - 6: Wednesday, 8:45-9:30
As the fireworks fired their last spark into the sky at Carnival day, the Class of 2008 was joining together for their 10 Year Reunion. Hosted at the fresh and creative Wilderness Cafe & Bar, the Class of 2008 spent the night reconnecting and reminiscing with each other, and with their old teachers. Kara Spink (nee Firth), Danielle Edwards (nee Miokovich) and Nancy Vieyra (nee Shambrook) introduced their newborns to the grade, followed by multiple ‘Awws’ and cheek squeezes. Luke Donovan, only one-week from returning from his honeymoon, introduced his new wife, Michelle, to his peers. Others shared their career successes, introduced their partners and shared exciting life events. Peers came from far and wide to reunite with their peers; Reilly Morris (nee Redenbach) and Jenna Harris (Nee Genge) even flew from New Zealand to be at the event.
Throughout the evening, Alumni wrote their favourite memories and tucked them away into a Jar of Wisdom, had the chance to find their name on a giant Class of 2008 Word Search and flicked through old photographs of their journey at King’s. Alumni member, Joshua Chan (Class of 2015) blessed us with smooth acoustic tunes throughout the evening.
The highlight of the evening was a heartfelt speech from class member, Jenna Harris. Having been a King’s student from Grade One through to Grade Twelve, Jenna highlighted hilarious and pivotal moments that she shared with her peers and teachers. To conclude the evening, we were delighted with an impromptu sing-along of the classic School Song, led by student, Rachel Puru (nee Schembri).
Melody Davis, Alumni

The 18th annual King's Sports Awards celebrated the achievements of our King's athletes across a diverse range of sports. The King's sports program continues to build each year with 102 students representing King's at regionals, 75 at state and 27 at national events in 2019. A further 40 students competed in teams at the national level. The depth of King's athletic talent across volleyball, cross country, cricket, football, futsal, hockey, netball, rugby union, swimming, touch football, AFL, basketball, equestrian, skipping, triathlon, athletics tennis, aquathon, baseball, diving and triathlon is inspiring.
The King's 'team of the year' was awarded to the Senior Volleyball team. Led by Mr Foster and coached by Robbo, this team won the Qld Division 1 state title and will compete at the Australian titles in December. Each year the team has developed greater skill, train with excellence and are now coaching younger King's team.
Congratulations to the Sportsperson of the year in the following age groups:
U12 sportswoman - Maya Zunker
U12 sportsman - Joseph Lethlean
U15 sportswoman - Sayla Donnelly
U15 sportsman - Cruz Lemming
U18 sportswoman - Jazi Coventry
U18 sportsman - James Nicholls
Finney took the double winning the 2019 Werkhoven Inter House Shield and the Franklin Shield confirming their dominance at all sports carnivals in both the Primary and High School.
Congratulations to Thomas Grinham who won the Griffith Uni award for excellence in sport and outstanding leadership.
Mark Occohilupo, legend of Australian surfing and world title holder in 1999, shared his best advice for chasing a sports dream. "Listen to your parents and be committed to nurturing your talent." We honour the faithful commitment of so many King's students who train before and after school to develop their skills and reach such high levels of competition.
Ari Klein was awarded the Rhonda Bevan Most Outstanding Sporting Achievement Award for 2019. Ari was invited to the Volleyball Junior Men's Development program at the Australian Institure of Sport. He was Captain of the U19 South Coast School boys at the Qld School State titles and the King's Division 1 gold meal team at the Senior Schools Cup. Ari also had the great privilege of being selected as Vice-Captain for the Australian gold team who competed in the Open Men's Volleyball competition at the ARAFURA Games in Darwin and won bronze. Less than 2% of scouted players at this event were selected to be part of the 2019 Australian Youth Boys Volleyball squad. Congratulations Ari! We will be cheering for you and the King's Senior Boys team at the upcoming National titles in December.
Thank you to our sports staff for their commitment providing opportunities for King's kids to develop their athletic potential. We salute our parents for your dedication in supporting your children as they train to achieve their best. We look forward to continued sporting success in 2020.
The Vision Celebration is an annual event where the College community comes together to express appreciation, reflect, celebrate and honour the Lord Jesus and His people for the vision, commitment and sacrifices that have been made in order to grow King's Christian College into the amazing community that it is today.
Mr Davis, College Principal, and the current Board continue casting the vision of the founding members, with the launch of the Pimpama campus to provide quality Christian education for the northern region of the Gold Coast. With the recent purchase of land at Chambers Flat, for a future third campus, the King's vision is expanding beyond the Gold Coast.
Staff and students from across both our Pimpama and Reedy Creek college campuses joined with College founders, Board Members, second generation students and their parents, and College administration staff, to witness this event. Mr Davis shared two essential ingredients for a happy life; being grateful and learning how to forgive. He challenged current students to remember the sacrifices, be thankful for the school they have today and maintain the vision by living happy, successful lives. Mr Davis concluded, "I want to leave footsteps which will lay great foundations for the people to come."
Some highlights of program each year include the lighting of our candles that represent each year the College has been established, seeing the original school uniform and the Prep student time capsule presentation. Prep students drew pictures of what they want to be when they grow up and will be returned to them during their Year 12 Graduation Dinner.
Special thanks to our student photographer, Melody Drummond.

Last week the Primary and High School took part in their annual Cross Country Carnival. Due to extensive rain at the end of Term 1, the carnival was postponed as Schuster Park was completely under water. Being our second year at Schuster Park, students were more familiar with the course and made improvements on last year. I was extremely proud of the students who have been attending morning training since the start of the year and continued this training through the school holidays. A big thank you to Head Coaches Andrew and Mal for all the time they have put into our runners. Our leaders once again did a great job of the day getting their Houses involved and supporting each other. As we all know ever point counts on the day!
Primary: Congratulations to FINNEY - 2017 Cross Country Champions with 2906 points! Followed by Tyndale (2718), Newton (2679) and Rayleigh (2252)

The Intermediate Schools Cup (ISC) is held annually by Volleyball Queensland and co-hosted by the Toowoomba Volleyball Association. This year King’s sent our Year 9 Boys team to take part in the three-day competition. Currently our Boys team is undefeated this year in the APS competition and will be playing off for a Premiership in two weeks’ time.
With months of extra trainings our team was ready to test themselves against some of the best Volleyball Schools in the State. On Friday, we had convincing wins over Shailer Park and Mansfield and finished the top of Pool B. This took us straight through to the top 8 quarter finals on Saturday. With a tough loss to Mountain Creek and Harristown we saw ourselves playing off for 7th-8th on Sunday against Gin Gin. Our boys managed to regain their confidence and finish with a strong win. I was extremely proud of the team and I look forward to watching them continue to improve and enjoy this great game. Thank you to all the parents who attended and to Glenn Robertson who has been working with the team on a Wednesday afternoon.
Bring on the APS Finals!
