The King’s Reedy Creek community converged at the Yatala Drive In on Monday, 12 October, to celebrate an unprecedented year of school. With COVID restrictions in place, King’s was among many schools who faced the dilemma of how to include families in their end of year celebration events. Executive Principal, Mr Davis, decided to take an old-school approach to this new school problem, by hosting the College’s 2020 Celebration evening at the Yatala Drive in. With this foresight and more than six months of careful planning and production, King’s staff worked tirelessly to produce high quality videos for each of the three campuses.

It was exciting to see so many King’s families embrace the new idea and take part in its fun festivities. Cars came ‘dressed’ in large Hawaiian skirts, palm trees, fairy lights, and much more, and the atmosphere was full of anticipation for what promised to be an incredible show. As the sky darkened and the big screen brightened, students were excited to spot themselves in a starring role, as families enjoyed the visual journey through King’s classrooms, playgrounds, sporting facilities and Chapels, as they watched many heart-warming moments and success stories from the year. Student Awards for 2020 were announced on screen, and congratulatory cheers were heard across the Drive In carpark. Thank you to everyone involved in making King's 2020 Celebration evenings such a success!
