Developing Creative Skills through Visual Art

This year, Pimpama has had the pleasure to introduce Art as a specialist subject from Prep through to Year 6. The students enjoyed acquiring a range of skills, learning about various artists and discovering how to use children’s books as a tool for inspiration.

In Lower Primary, the students have learned about primary colours and texture while in Upper Primary, they have studied the Principles of Art and Design. The students focussed on movement, rhythm, harmony and pattern; creating artworks to reflect each discipline.

The Upper Primary students have also studied different artists and concepts - applying creative techniques, using a variety of materials

Students continued studying Art throughout our time of Online Learning, creating junk journals and drawing with glue and pastels. They enjoyed each challenge as well as the chance to be creative and learn new skills. We are all looking forward to a new term where we will learn new skills and new ideas to share as we journey through Art together.
