Reedy Creek

It is the second year that King's has entered the DNK Rugby Cup, held at All Saints. We entered Year 4, 5 and 6 teams who had trained hard to be be competitive on the day.

The Year 4 rugby team had some tough matches first up and lost their first 3 games. They were able to turn things around and get two wins in their later matches, placing 4th overall.

Year 5 had a very challenging match first up and lost 20-0 to Ambrose. It was a good wake up call for the boys who then went into every match playing as hard as they could. The team then went on to win the rest of the pool matches and finish 1st on the ladder to qualify for the play off match for 1st and 2nd between King's and Ambrose. What a game! The boys played their hearts out but came up short with a 5-15 loss, which placed them 2nd overall for the carnival.

The Year 6 team had been waiting all year for this carnival and were pumped for the day. They had an easy pool with two games and one bye and won both games convincingly. They managed to secure the semi final match with a good win which allowed them to match up against Emmanuel College for the grand final. The last time the teams met, during the APS rounds, the game finished in a draw so both teams were eager to get a win. The King's boys came out hard, fast and ready to play. In the end the boys had a convincing win over Emmanuel with the final score of 20-5 to take out the top prize of the DNK Cup.

The Year 6 win came with mixed emotions for their passionate coach, Mr Wilson. "It's been great working with such a fantastic bunch of young men who have all got such a great future ahead. I will miss after school training and screaming from the sidelines at you, and for you! I'm your biggest fan and I know that this is just the beginning. It was an awesome team effort today and I couldn't be prouder. King's rugby is in safe hands."

Well done to all of the King's teams. All of the players had a great day and we achieved some really good results across the board.
