ATAR Exams Commence at King's and Across Queensland

Secondary

King's Year 12 cohort have enjoyed many activities to commemorate the end of their high school journey including the Formal, Graduation Dinner, final assembly, tree planting and tunnel. Then in Week 4 of Term 4 they changed their focus to complete revision at home in preparation for the external Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) exams.

2020 marks the first year that the ATAR replaced the Overall Position (OP) system in Queensland, and will be used as the primary mechanism used for tertiary admissions in 2021 by indicating a student’s position relative to other students across Australia. ATAR requires all students to sit the same external examination for each Year 12 General subject they study which contributes to 25 percent of their final subject result, except for Maths and Sciences subjects where exams contribute 50 percent. The exam block began with English on Monday, 26 October, and will continue over a four-week period. At 9am on Saturday, 19 December, all eligible Year 12 students will have access to their ATAR score.

King's are very pleased with how the Year 12s have diligently prepared for these exams and conducted themselves so far. Students have managed exceptionally well as the first cohort to complete the new Queensland senior syllabus, in a very challenging year. Please join with us in praying for these students as they sit the remaining three weeks of exams, that they will experience God's peace and clarity of mind to achieve the best possible outcomes for their desired tertiary pathway, and into their careers beyond.
