Danny Joins the Pimpama Community

The King's Student Wellbeing program supports and equips students to thrive psychologically and spiritually, and the many benefits of this service often extends far beyond a student's learning journey at the College. The Student Wellbeing department have a number of incredible young men and women on staff in the Chaplaincy team, and the Pimpama community were thrilled to welcome current Reedy Creek Chaplain, Danny Nicholson, this year.

Danny's heart for seeing young people love and serve the Lord, and his passion for community services and youth work, led him to study a Diploma of Counselling and a Diploma of Community Services, and become a registered Australian Counselling Association member. After graduating, Danny worked in NSW state schools for more than six years, and it was Mr Oosthuizen who first heard Danny preach at a King's Church. He approached Danny to see if he would be interested in joining the Chaplaincy team at Reedy Creek, which he accepted, and within a year became a full-time staff member. Danny has been a much-loved King's Chaplain for over four years, and this year his role expanded to include Pimpama campus every Tuesday.

Danny explained what he loves about his role, "I love being in the Student Wellbeing team as it's the department that is involved in every aspect of College life, from working with the Preps to High school students, going on campus, to participating in sporting events. We build bridges between all departments."

"My favourite verses in the Bible are Jeremiah 1, 4 to 8, because that was the scripture that called me to ministry. I love empowering young people from this scripture, to be the person God has called them to be." Danny said.

'Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." Then said I" "Ah, Lord God! Behold I cannot speak, for I am a youth." But the Lord said to me: "Do not say 'I am a youth," for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you," says the Lord.'

Danny is actively involved with Hillsong's Central church in Highland Park, and is currently studying Personal Training.
