Richard Yang was our Highest achieving ATAR student in 2021, successfully earning himself an incredible score of 98.60. We interviewed Richard to find out about some of the things that help him reach his goals.

"What academic awards did you receive in Year 12?"
- I got First in Physics, Maths Methods and Maths Specialist, and the Proximate Accessit award.
"Did you allow yourself enough time for sleep, rest and prayer in Year 12?"
- Sleep, rest and prayer are all very important for sure. You need sleep and rest to actually function your brain to the full potential – so it’s better to just sleep than studying overnight. And prayers help as well – you can maintain your relationship with God through the exhausting times.
"What did you do leading up to the external exams last year?"
- I took notes for all subjects and practised the QCAA sample exam and last year’s exam many times. This helped me a lot.
"What advice would you give to the current Year 12 students?"
- Don’t stress. Find a balance in your life - don’t always be studying or always playing. Do a bit of both.
"What are your plans for 2022?"
- I’m studying Physiotherapy at UQ. As well as studying, I want to enjoy life and attend my church and the gym regularly. I'll also be playing some basketball and I've started getting into boxing recently too.
