King's Host Online Parent Teacher Conferences

Academic

The move to online Parent/Student/Teacher Partnership Conferences was a historic change in the life of the College, and proved to be very popular across Primary and High School. Hundreds of Zoom conferences took place in the first week of Term 3, and this new format ensured parents could successfully connect with King's teachers to discuss their child's progress, while adhering to the Government's COVID-safe guidelines.

Parents booked interview times via Compass, and were sent a Zoom link for the meeting with their child's teacher/s. Parents waited in virtual waiting rooms for their conference, and teachers could start the meeting early, if they were available. Parents appreciated the comfort of talking with teachers from their home, their workplace, or in transit on the way to their next commitment, and it was easy to involve students in the conference, if they desired. Some conferences were also hosted with parents who were based overseas, and for the first time parents were able to join in the same meeting, from separate locations.

The feedback from King's parents was overwhelmingly positive, and participants particularly enjoyed the convenience of being able to connect virtually in a way that was both meaningful and practical. The success of our new online format will see these conferences remain online for the foreseeable future. We thank parents for embracing this new approach and look forward to hosting many more Zoom partnership meetings in the future.
