King's Junior Volleyball Win State School Cup
Our Junior Boys Volleyball team recently represented King’s Christian College at the annual Volleyball Queensland Junior State School Cup. The tournament was held over three days at the Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre, Carrara, consisting of 54 schools and 162 teams. This was the first competition for the Junior Boys and they were placed in a Year 7 division of fifteen schools from across the state.
After day one, the team finished second in their pool, allowing them to progress to the semi-finals. Saturday composed of three semi-finals games and the King's team won them all. Feeling the pressure of their first tournament, the boys held their composure and their confidence grew as the team found themselves in the grand final.
With much support and encouragement from senior boys Ari Klein, Cameron Grainger and Patrick Heelan, the team were up against the reigning champions and played a three set decider. The team, captained by Thierry Liddell and comprising of three Year 6 and four Year 7 students made King’s history and brought home our first junior gold medal!
