'Kingston' Enters GC Show Scarecrow Competition
The Gold Coast Show presents a unique opportunity for artists of all ages to enter their creative works into the annual art competition. Every year, popular Show categories include Photography, Painting, Indigenous Art, Drawing, Glass Craft, Ceramics, Pottery and Sculpture. One of the favourites for young students is the Primary School Scarecrow Competition, where students from across the Gold Coast collaborate within their school to produce inventive scarecrows.
King's Year 3 student, Matthew Hawthorn, was inspired to design and sculpt a scarecrow named 'Kingston' for this year's Gold Coast Show. With the help of the Primary Art Department and his peers from Year 3 and Year 6, Kingston came to life during many hours of work within their lunch breaks. Kingston is expressive and lively and he looks forward to heading to this year's Gold Coast show to be judged. Good luck Matthew and Kingston!
