Pimpama - All Library Books Quarantined at King's

King’s have implemented a number of important measures to ensure that the College libraries remain healthy places for students to cultivate their love of literature. For the last month, every book returned to the library has been quarantined for seven days then thoroughly sanitised, before going back on the shelf. All library surfaces, including furniture and photocopiers, are routinely disinfected throughout the day, to ensure that they are free from unwanted germs. Cushions have been removed for now, and chairs have been repositioned to ensure safe physical distancing within our library spaces.

The College’s Mobile Library Service commenced in the first week of the Easter holidays as a safe and convenient initiative for King’s families to be able to borrow books, without the need to enter the school grounds. The service is continuing throughout Term 2 and parents can simply email a request to library@kingscollege.qld.edu.au, including the student’s name and year level, and one of our librarians will select 10 books, based on the student’s recent loans. They will arrange a date and time to meet at our drop off zone with the books, which can then be returned to the same location, using the Library Book Returns bin. This popular service has been enjoyed by over 116 students to date, and is just one of the many innovative ways our College are helping students continue with their learning.
