Record Numbers Complete Premier's Reading Challenge
Every year, King's participates in the Premier's Reading Challenge to help promote a lifelong love of literacy. The program encourages students to enjoy a wide range of literary texts, and those who read the set number of books for the Challenge have their efforts recognised with a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier of Queensland. Our College increased the number of students who completed the Challenge during 2020, and we commend every young reader for their enthusiastic participation.
The Premier's Reading Challenge is not a competition to read the most books, however, our staff and especially College Librarian, Amanda Roberts, were very excited to see students excel far beyond the Challenge's expectations. Year 5 student Noah Morichovitis read 360 books, while Year 5 student Sophia Van Rensburg read 200 books, Year 4 student Elliana Buxton read 87 books, and Lynne Ng was the highest achiever in High School. These students, along with the top readers from each Year level, all received a special prize.
