Tambourine Camp Takes Year 5s to New Heights
Year 5 students recently enjoyed a change of surroundings when they swapped their King's classrooms for a two-night Camp at QCCC in Mount Tamborine. The picturesque campsite sat atop of the mountain, overlooking Mount Tamborine and the Gold Coast beyond. Every student embraced the camping experience with a positive attitude, overcoming fears as they attempted every activity and challenge, ranging from archery, the Possum Glider, the Survival Challenge and the Nature Walk. They learned valuable bush skills, like lighting a fire and making damper to cook fireside. The highlight was taking on the Giant Swing and cheering each other on as they literally rose to new heights.
Devotions were split into boys and girls this year, due to our new health restrictions, but these smaller groups gave students the opportunity to open up and listen to the word of God, and worship Jesus with big voices - it was powerful. Some of the teachers lead acoustic worship with just vocals and a guitar, and the night ended with all our students learning they are all Little Leaders, called to a BIG purpose. Thanks to all the staff involved who made it such a phenomenal experience for the Year 5 students!
