Teacher Recognised for Outstanding Contribution to Languages Education

Congratulations to King's teacher, Cathy Hegarty, on receiving an award from the Modern Language Teachers' Association of Queensland Inc. (MLTAQ) for her outstanding contribution to Languages education in Queensland.

This citation was read at the MLTAQ 60th Diamond Jubilee:

"A member of MLTAQ since 1991, Cathy has energy, enthusiasm and a vision for Languages in Queensland which is as vibrant as her personality. Her dream of a multi-language speech contest in Brisbane was realised this year and it is a credit to her dedication and the strong team of support that she has gathered around her. At the school level, Cathy is a strong advocate for Language programs and her commitment to ensuring that Language programs are valued is unquestioned."

The Brisbane Primary and Secondary Speech Contests grew from one language to seven in just one year of her leadership. Congratulations Cathy for this recognition of your professionalism and dedication to excellence in teaching.
