Year 10 Day Camp 2020
Tuesday was an extra-ordinary day at school for King's Year 10 students, filled with team building activities, plenty of food, prizes, and even dancing. The Year 10 Day Camp was in lieu of their annual camp that was cancelled this year, and was designed to foster a similar experience by strengthening friendships and faith across the cohort.
The day began with icebreaker activities that made the group feel comfortable and more connected, and followed with a variety of challenges that required successful collaboration and effective communication. Some challenges incorporated water, and most students found it tough to stay dry as they energetically dodged hundreds of water balloons. To help them dry out and fill up, students devoured a large Subway lunch and whole trays of cookies. The King’s Youth Takeover followed lunch, where students heard from guest speaker, Fred Porter. He spoke about unexpected events that occur in life and how to rely on faith in God to overcome these adversities. The day finished on a high note with a dance session run by Move Your Body dance studio, who taught the group a contemporary jive. The students were all a little hesitant at first, but by the end, everyone was up and jiving as they perfected their moves and had so much fun. The Year 10 students thoroughly enjoyed their Day Camp and we look forward to continuing this community spirit next year.
