Year 4s Enjoy their First School Camp

King’s Year 4 students spent three amazing days away from home and school in Week 7 as they embarked on their very first school camp. This camp was met with great anticipation, following a time of lockdown, online learning and COVID restrictions, and one of the most common classroom questions was ‘Can we still go on camp?’ The day finally arrived, the buses were loaded and students could not contain their excitement. After a short trip to CYC Burleigh, they arrived at their picturesque camp location, ready to soak up the sea and winter sunshine. There was a real buzz in the air and students couldn’t wait to experience camp life with their friends - sharing a cabin, trying camp food and participating in all the activities. As a Christian-based camp, CYC offered the perfect place to experience the wonder of God’s creation and throughout their camp, students loved giant stand up paddleboarding, initiative games, bodyboarding, free-swimming time and team challenges. A highlight, as with all King’s camps, was evening devotions and the group were challenged and encouraged by the chaplaincy team on both nights with many students responding to the powerful message of Jesus. It was such an incredible time!

Year 4s came back from their first camp tired but very happy, having developed stronger friendships, new skills and greater self-confidence. We are sure Year 4 parents have heard some great camp stories and students are already eagerly anticipating next year’s camp. Thanks to King’s staff who helped make this incredible camp possible - it would not have been the same without you!
