Year 8 Geography Fair Stalls

Secondary

In Week 9, King's Year 8 Geography students worked in small groups to create informative and interactive stalls as they presented their research findings from their Term 1 topic of Landscapes and Landforms. Throughout the Geography Fair, students confidently answered questions from teachers and other visiting students about their project. Well done students on a great effort!

"This term, we have been focusing on our geography topic Landscapes and Landforms. In the first half of term we studied a range of content, from the geomorphic processes of different landforms, to identifying elements of various landscapes and studying multiple types of maps. Our assignment was then to choose between either a natural hazard (such as a volcano or an earthquake) or the maintenance and protection of a specific area. We were tasked with working in groups to create a mitigation or management plan. Through a substantial amount of research and creativity, each group was able to come up with a unique design for the culminating product to present at the Geography Fair. The Fair spanned over two days, with the three classes either presenting or observing the presentations. It was truly a wonder to see it all come to life after three weeks' worth of work. I personally enjoyed seeing everything come together, in both our project and all of the other groups. Overall, this project was different, engaging and memorable, and will benefit us in years to come."
