Our Noah's Ark children and families enjoyed a special concert evening on Monday 22 November, to celebrate a wonderful year of learning, fun, achievements and growth among our almost 200 children. Families enjoyed coffee and ice creams in the afternoon sunshine while preparing their children for the big event in the auditorium.
This was a wonderful occasion to share some special songs that the children have enjoyed singing and dancing to during this year, and an opportunity to share the real reason for the Christmas season with the 800 people who attended. Children and adults all left the evening filled with pride, joy, and smiles from ear-to-ear.

Rain Doesn't Dampen Year 6 Graduation Spirits at Pimpama
25 November 2021
Record rainfall in November did not dampen the spirits of Year 6 students at the graduation dinner.
Our King's Year 6 students switched their school uniforms for dazzling dresses and smart attire on Thursday night, 26 November, as they came together in the auditorium to begin their graduation celebrations. The rain didn't dampen spirits as students began the event posing for photos with family and friends, before being ushered into the auditorium for a memorable evening of dinner, dancing, entertainment and fun. Our Campus Principal, Mr Verreynne, and Head of Primary, Mrs Hope Malcolm, presented each graduate with their own Bible and graduation certificate, as they walked across the stage for the final time as primary students.
Our annual Year 6 Graduation celebration marks an important milestone in the cohort's school journey, as they prepare to finish Primary School and step into their new role as High School students. Dressed to perfection and displaying their best behaviour, the students made us all very proud of the incredible young people they have become. The cohort treasured their final primary year with fond memories of their recent Cairns Trip, Sports Carnivals and many great moments at King's that will remain with them all for many years to come.
Thank you to our staff and parents for helping prepare for this incredible event, and thank you students for all that you have brought to our Primary School community over the years - we pray for your continued success throughout your time in High School!
Year 6 Students Discover Cairns
23 November 2021
"On Monday, 8 November 2021, we all arrived at school at 6:45 am. It didn’t actually feel that early as we said goodbye to our parents and hopped on the bus. Destination Brisbane Airport. It was a two and a half hour flight to Cairns. I was on bus Red and the first activity we did was visit the Cairns Aquarium. That was great. After this excursion, we went to our accommodation which had three pools! That night we had devotions, the theme was Into the Deep, and Chappy Dylan preached. My favourite day was when we went to the Great Barrier Reef and we went snorkelling. Once I put my head in the water, I was blown away. A highlight was our trip on a glass-bottom boat and we saw a turtle. I had a great experience in Cairns."
- Tia, Year 6 student
"On the third day in Cairns, we went on an aqueduct army boat. We watched a special aboriginal dance and we even got to go on stage to dance with them. We then went to a butterfly sanctuary and saw many beautiful butterflies. On the last day of our Cairns trip, we went to a croc farm and saw people feeding crocs from the boat we were on. We then went to a high ropes course in a wildlife dome. This was a great high ropes experience and we got to zip line over a big crocodile. After that, we went straight to the Airport and got to buy food for the plane trip home. I had a great time in Cairns."

CYC Perfect Venue for Year 5 Camp
2 November 2021
Year 5 students enjoyed our annual camp at CYC Burleigh! We all had a lovely time down at the beach, despite the hectic storm as our welcoming party. Students enjoyed dragon boating, hiking, stand up paddle-boarding, initiative games and raft building. CYC provided a great Christian atmosphere and we were made to feel at home.
During Year 5's 2021 camp, two lucky students were also able to celebrate their birthdays on the beach and had a great time with their friends. Three students also participated in the finals of the AB Paterson Public Speaking competition and were welcomed back to camp with dinner and cake. Camp was so much fun! We are so blessed to be able to have such amazing facilities in our own backyard.

Birds of a Feather Flock Together
4 November 2021
King's talented Primary artists collaborated in Term 4 to create an enormous set of eagle wings during Creative By Design week. The College hosted Master Classes in Art based on the bible verse in Isaiah 40:31 where God declares, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall rise up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.” In response to this theme, each artist created an elaborately designed feather using paint pens, glitter and sequins, and these feathers were combined to create the wings masterpiece.

Year 3 Excursion – David Fleay’s Wildlife Park
4 November 2021
The Year 3 classes were excited to go on their first excursion for the year to David Fleay Wildlife Park, as part of their Living and Non-Living Science unit in Term 4. The students explored a variety of Australian native animals in their natural habitats, including wallabies, dingoes, cassowaries, emus and many fascinating species of birds. They enjoyed visiting the nocturnal enclosure, home to the Platypus, Bilby, a variety of snakes, the Spinifex Hopping Mouse and many more intriguing creatures!
The Year 3s were given an informative presentation from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers, where they asked thoughtful questions and listened intently. Students had the chance to get up close to some cuddly wildlife at the Koala educational talk. They were introduced to a rescued possum at the Nalu Theatre and meeting Casper, the Barn Owl, was a definite favourite for many! Some students even spotted the resident Estuarine Crocodiles, Queen and Smiley, who belong to a species renowned for being the largest of all living reptiles.
Another highlight was the Flight Show, where the large birds of prey amazed the audience with their spectacular wingspans as well as their speed and accuracy at snatching food whilst in mid-air. The Year 3s were even entertained by a dancing Brolga! This wonderful day out was definitely an engaging and memorable experience for all students.
A big thank you to the amazing parent volunteers who accompanied us on our excursion. These special outings would not be possible without your generous support.

Speed Dating in Maths
25 November 2021
In Year 7, maths students found an exciting way to revise all of their content together, prior to exams starting! Rather than study on their own, or redo our Mathspace tasks by themselves, they created Speed Maths.
"In Speed Maths, we partnered with someone with a question, and with someone with an answer. We helped each other to understand the concepts in our Maths curriculum by not only asking and answering but also by teaching the concept to our peers," said Elliott Reed, Year 7 student.
"This is Speed Maths so each question and answer session is just minutes long. The bell rings and we move around to find the next concept to learn and share with each other." This fun way of doing revision helped our Year 7s prepare for their end of year exams in an exciting way.

Instrumental Music Twilight Concert Series for Pimpama's Budding Musicians
26 October 2021
The Instrumental Music Twilight Concert Series in Term 4 featured performances from students learning a musical instrument at school. Two concert recitals were hosted to provide students with the opportunity to perform publicly, to a small audience of peers, parents and friends. These public performances are an important step in gaining confidence for the musicians, and also are an excellent way to hone skills before the next round of AMEB exams.
For several students, this was their very first public performance. The students performed admirably and provided a lovely concert experience for their audience. Congratulations to all the performers.

Emily Clark's Outstanding Sporting Achievements
26 October 2021
Emily Clark, Year 9, is one of our sporting quiet achievers. Emily has worked hard and has earned some outstanding achievements, especially in her chosen sports of Softball and Soccer. Emily has shared some of her experiences with us here.
'This year has included many different achievements for my sporting career. At the end of the 2020/2021 softball season, I had the privilege of receiving the Junior Softball Player of the year. This led to being selected into the Brisbane u16 and u18 Reds steam. These two teams are the top teams within Brisbane and played in the state championships in September. The u16 team placed 3rd and the u18s team placed 2nd. I also had the privilege of being selected to participate in the 2020 u14 Australian Softball Camp, however, due to COVID last year it got postponed to this year. I was able to play my first Senior A1 game for softball on the weekend. I faced a Queensland Heat pitcher, who pitches in excess of 100km/h and managed to get one safe hit out of two at bats. During this year, I received 1st age Swimming champion, 3rd age Cross Country champion as well as 1st age Athletics champion for school competitions.’
‘At the start of the soccer season, I was able to play for the Logan Lightning Women’s National Premier League Team. I was able to play against a few teams across South-East Queensland. This helped me to get selected to play in an Elite Game in front of the Young Matildas coach as well as QAS coaches. I also got selected to play in three NPLW State identification games which was played throughout August and September. This led to being selected to participate in two Talent Support Program (TSP) tournaments. These tournaments help select players into the Queensland team as well as the QAS Squad which plays in the NPL. I had the privilege to train with the Lions FC NPLW team for the past three weeks. This team are the 2021 premiers and champions. They have a number of A-League women players in this side. Overall this year has been filled with great experiences as a sportsperson which has helped me grow and learn as an athlete.’

KDA students finished the year with performances at Neon night, Celebration Evenings and Noah's Ark Concerts.
