Christmas Blessings
25 November 2021
Thanks to our King's families for another successful year of learning together! 2021 saw us navigate through many new and unprecedented circumstances but every member of our community played their part to ensure our college continued to thrive. From lockdown learning at home, mask-wearing in classes, hard border closures affecting staff, to extreme weather events, our staff and students leaned on God and came through it stronger as a community. It was wonderful to end 2021 on a high as we welcomed families back for a number of exciting King's events this term, including our inaugural Celebration Evening on the Green, Sports Awards Night, Year 12 Graduation and tunnel, Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival and Year 6 Graduation. We wish every King's family a happy, healthy and refreshing Christmas holiday break as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Year 12 Tunnel 2021
18 November 2021
King's Year 12 Tunnel is one of the most significant annual ceremonies for our College as our graduating cohort take their final walk through the campus, cheered on by hundreds of staff and students. Friday, 19 November, was that day for our Class of 2021, and every King's student from Kindy to Year 11 came out of their classrooms to line the bridge and walkway and show their support for our departing Year 12s. This moment in time marks such an important step in the Year 12s' journey and was a tear-jerking occasion for many as the group departed King's campus for the final time as students. Congratulations to our Class of 2021 - the Year of Courage - you made it! King's will miss you all and will continually pray for God's richest blessings over your life, as you begin your new adventures beyond King's.

Year 6's Graduation Celebration 2021
26 November 2021
King's Year 6 students swapped their school uniforms for dazzling dresses and smart suits on Thursday evening, as they came together in the King's Table forecourt for their graduation celebrations. This event marks an important milestone for the cohort, as they prepared to finish Primary School and begin their new role as High School students. Grey skies and spontaneous downpours didn't dampen spirits as our guests beamed with excitement for the night ahead. Countless photos were taken with family and friends, before the formalities began. The outdoor forecourt was transformed into an open-air dancefloor as students enjoyed their traditional dance. As parents watched on, King's Reedy Creek Campus Principal, Mr Meyers, and Head of Primary, Mrs Payne, presented each student with a personalised Bible and their graduation certificate, as they walked across the stage for the final time as primary students. They were then ushered along the red carpet, through the teachers' guard of honour and into the auditorium to enjoy a two-course dinner, highlights video, fun trivia quiz, and even more dancing! The night was filled with mixed emotions - the joy of reminiscing many happy memories from seven years in primary, with the sadness of leaving their much-loved primary school life behind. Above all though, it was heartwarming to see how much our students have grown personally and spiritually throughout their learning journey so far. We are so proud of the young men and women they have become, and are excited to see all that God has ahead for them.
Thank you to our staff and parents for helping prepare this incredible event! Thank you students for all that you have brought to our Primary School community over the years - we pray for your continued success throughout your time in High School.

Years 3-6 Swimming Carnival 2021
24 November 2021
Overcast skies and warm temperatures provided perfect conditions for our Years 3-6 Swimming Carnival at Palm Beach Aquatic Centre. The excitement was palpable as our primary students prepared to race and give their best to raise points for their Houses. Our Year 3 Carnival newcomers attempted their races with courage and perseverance, while our experienced and skilled swimmers showed excellence in the pool. House rivalry and supportive peer cheer continued throughout the day, and with the House Champions title on the line, every student gave their best. Following a hard-fought contest, TYNDALE House finished in FIRST place overall to claim a convincing victory over their rivals. Well done Tyndale and congratulations to our exceptional 2021 Swimming Carnival Age Champions and record breakers!

Year 3's First King's Camp
23 November 2021
On Friday of Week 7, our Year 3 students enjoyed their very first school camp experience. Wheeling trollies full of tents, mattresses, sleeping bags and camping gear from the car park, our incredible Year 3 parents helped turn our sports fields into a colourful campsite for an evening of fun with friends. The students' introduction to school camps at King's saw them learn many new skills in a little over 24 hours. They enjoyed pitching their tents with their parent, played scavenger hunt games, ate Subway for dinner, and danced to a lively Chapel service before winding down for the night with a movie in the church. The sound of snoring could be heard across the oval, as our Year 3 community spent the night in their tents under the stars. It was wonderful to see the students build greater bonds with their peers and have the chance to experience the first of many amazing King's camps.
Year 5 Students Attend Quest 2021
17 November 2021
Year 5 students, Aditya Shah and Rose Kozina, participated in the Quest program recently. Quest invites high-achievers from various primary schools to attend a two-day workshop that explored topics in science, maths and humanities. Aditya and Rose shared about their Quest experience:
"We both had so much fun doing Quest, from learning more about complex subjects to making new friends from different schools. We enjoyed a few hands-on activities to prove facts about our subject and test differences in scientific trials. We were given facts for advertising products in our psychology subject, and enjoyed a motion experiment that involved making a vortex with two bottles and seeing how quickly the water moves down into the other bottle. We would definitely recommend any student take part in Quest because it is an amazing learning opportunity and can boost your knowledge with certain topics giving a jumpstart on subjects in the future."
Year 7 Authors Share their Books
18 November 2021
This term, King's Year 7 students have been studying Australian poems in English and were tasked with transforming their chosen poem into a modern story by writing and illustrating a digital or hard copy picture book. In Week 7 this term, the Year 7 students read their completed stories to the captivated Year 3 student audience, who thoroughly enjoyed the lesson with their older peers. Well done students!

King's Dance Academy Rounds off Another Successful Year
26 November 2021
KDA Annual Dance Concert
King’s Dance Academy (KDA) held its annual dance concert on Saturday, 20 November, and were pleased to be able to invite all parents and family to attend this year, without restrictions. Over the full day's schedule, KDA successfully orchestrated:
- three amazing concerts,
- requiring seven sound, lighting & film technicians,
- with 25 passionate KDA team members,
- 273 King’s students shining on stage,
- 1000+ friends and family enjoying the shows,
- and countless smiles, nerves and tears of joy!
"Words cannot express how proud we are of every student who performed on Saturday. For some, it was their first-ever performance, while others have been dancing at KDA since Pre Prep. No matter their level of experience, every dancer had an amazing time on stage with their friends in a safe and positive environment."
- KDA Director, Miss La Toya
Royal Academy of Dance - Ballet Exams
Congratulations to King's six ballerinas who sat their first internationally recognized ‘Royal Academy of Dance’ Ballet Exams in 2021. Well done Tatiana Zeller and Imogen Reddrop who both achieved the highest score and were awarded Distinctions.
KDA Performance Teams to Attend Nationals
KDA performance teams are open to students by audition/invitation only, with a performance and competition-based focus. KDA's performance teams placed at numerous competitions throughout the year, and six of the eight KDA performance teams qualified for nationals. These six teams have been invited to compete against the winners from states across Australia at The Star in February 2022. Good luck teams!
KDA students finished the year with performances at Neon night, Celebration Evenings and Noah's Ark Concerts. KDA Director, Miss La Toya, also choreographed the Year 6 Graduation dance and proudly watched as all Year 6 students danced their way out of Primary School. And that's a wrap for another fantastic year of dance at King's. The academy has enjoyed hours of fun and movement in their weekly classes, at competitions, in exams and of course on stage!

Christmas Hamper Packing Day
23 November 2021
The last Wednesday of term was Christmas hamper packing day, and what better way for our Year 9 students to spend their Christian Studies class, than packing hampers for those in need! Love in action was the theme of the lesson, as students modelled service to others in a meaningful way. The lesson began with Ps Shirley Sykes, from King's Community Care, making a guest appearance and speaking to the cohort about the importance of the gifts and how they would be distributed. She explained that through King's Community Care partnerships across the Gold Coast and Brisbane, they have been able to identify families who are 'doing it really tough this Christmas and would be incredibly blessed by a hamper.' King's Community Care Christmas hamper program has been running since 2006 and has helped countless families. 'Many do not know they are receiving a hamper,' Ps Sykes said, 'and they are often so overwhelmed with gratitude that they burst into tears!'
The Year 9s packed 100 Christmas Hampers full of treats and consumables, wrapped age-appropriate presents for children and handwrote Christmas cards to remind the recipients that Jesus loves them. Ps Sykes prayed for the recipients of every hamper and it was a special moment of compassion as our community worked together to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It is such a privilege for our school to partner with King's Community Care every year to help make this program possible. Thank you to our King's families - your donations to our 2021 Christmas Missions fundraisers are about to reach the hearts and lives of those in need.

King's Community Support for New Sports Field
25 November 2021
In 2018, the College purchased a property behind our existing Reedy Creek sports fields with plans to build an additional sports field and running track, provide extra parking and link Gemvale Road (the COLA carpark) with an internal roadway to Eden View Drive (the High School entrance).
We are seeking written support of this proposal from our wider community which is critical for receiving final approval from the Gold Coast City Council (GCCC). The College has been negotiating with GCCC and other interested agencies for over three years and has developed a final proposal that satisfies the requirements of all the various stakeholders. The proposal also utilises unused council land adjacent to the school property and provides for community use of the new sports field on weekends and non-school days. How can you help? Any adult with an interest in the project can provide a letter of support. To be valid, letters of support must be provided in the specific format below, be signed and dated between 25 November and 16 December, and be returned to the College by 16 December, 2021.
The buttons below link to a list of FAQs and the preformatted letter of support to complete. The file is an interactive pdf that can be filled in online and signed, or it can be printed, completed and returned to the College via email (submissions@kingscollege.qld.edu.au) or completed in paper form and returned to Main Reception.
We welcome your active support of our College as we further develop facilities for our students to excel across all areas of the learning journey.
