Spring Fair 2025 was an incredible celebration of community spirit, filled with laughter, excitement, and unforgettable moments. Families and friends enjoyed a fun-filled day on campus, with perfect weather setting the scene.
The fair offered something for everyone—from the climbing wall, round-up ride, and laser skirmish, to VR games, go-karts, and the popular 3v3 basketball competition. Younger children delighted in the trackless train, petting zoo, big slide, and jumping castles, while the Super Soaker stall was a hit once again, giving students the chance to drench their teachers!
Highlights of the Day
The market stalls bustled with colour and creativity, offering unique products and tasty treats. Families also enjoyed Under 8s Day activities, face painting, and the cent auction. A standout this year was the 10 Year Celebration Exhibition, which showcased a decade of memories and milestones from across our school community—adding a meaningful touch to the festivities. The P&F sausage sizzle, bake sale, and food trucks kept everyone well-fed throughout the day.
On stage, our talented students brought energy and joy through dance, singing, and cheer performances that captivated the audience and created lasting memories for families.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of Spring Fair 2025. We look forward to doing it all again next year!

Primary Write a Book in a Day
4 September 2025
+1
In an extraordinary display of creativity, collaboration, and heart, our Year 5 & 6 students took part in Write a Book in a Day, Australia’s most inspiring team writing competition. Over two consecutive 12-hour writing days, each team was challenged to write and illustrate an entire book from scratch. They received unique story parameters, including random words, character outlines, and setting details, ensuring every team began with the same surprise prompt.
Their efforts raised vital funds in support of childhood cancer research through The Kids’ Cancer Project, and every submitted book will be shared with children in hospitals across Australia, offering joy, hope, and escape.
In Week 5, Year 1 welcomed firefighters from the Pimpama Fire Station to talk about fire safety. The session was highly engaging, with the firefighters taking time to answer the children’s thoughtful questions. Volunteers even got to join in, practising important manoeuvres such as the “Stop, Drop and Roll.” Although the messages were serious and important, the firefighters delivered them in such a fun and interactive way that the students were completely captivated. A highlight was when Mrs Legge was called upon to dress up in the full firefighter safety gear—this helped the children see a familiar face in what could otherwise look like a scary outfit, and it brought plenty of laughs!
Due to the wet weather, our much-anticipated look at the fire truck had to be postponed. However, the firefighters kindly agreed to return in Week 6, much to the children’s delight. When the bright red truck finally arrived, excitement filled the air. Students were able to see the specialised equipment and were thrilled to all be able to take turns spraying water from the hose...just like real firefighters.
We are so thankful to the Pimpama Fire Station team for giving their time so generously, teaching our students vital safety skills in a way that was both memorable and enjoyable. These visits not only build confidence and knowledge but also left Year 1 with smiles, squeals of joy and lasting memories.

A cat making his way through a secret lab to defeat a mutation-crazed chef. A painter who must follow a mysterious emu through a terrifying maze. And a helpfully unhelpful guinea pig who creates a connection on a flight across the Atlantic. Each of these stories was written and illustrated by small teams of students from our high school over 12 hours during Write a Book in a Day.
Mr Caleb Turner, High School Teacher, said: "Our King’s teams showed incredible dedication and team spirit, coming up with an endless supply of wacky and wonderful ideas and forming lots of new friendships. Thanks to them for participating, and we wish them the best of success in the competition!"
The students, who ranged from Year 7 to 11 and were organised into teams of 8 to 10, produced illustrated books of 4,000 to 5,000 words that will be published and distributed to kids in hospitals with cancer. The competition is also a fundraiser for the Kids’ Cancer Project.
This annual event, run by the Kid’s Cancer Project, is more than just a writing challenge – it’s a chance for students to build teamwork, creativity and resilience while contributing to an important cause.
Student, Olivia D., reflected:
“The school had planned for us to “Write a Book in a Day”, and the atmosphere was lively the entire time. Everyone was working in small groups, doing a lot of character and plot designing, which eventually came together in quite a story, particularly keeping in mind the time limit. It was a good mix of laughter, creativity, and collaboration as we added life to the story we had devised. It was a thrilling day for us, doing team building exercises and having the opportunity to think on our feet and to craft something of quality to benefit others. Reflecting on this event, I think I can speak for everyone when I say that this experience enhanced our sense of togetherness.
It was nice to be able to share concepts and strategies, and also provide help and receive help when needed. It left me with the impression of how valuable a team can be when everyone rallies to a given cause. I also found out that as a leader, it is not always a case of being in 'command and control'. Rather, it can be better to provide gentle guidance where an appropriate nudge can help others achieve their potential. I believe the event was the chance to sharpen our leadership, along with a boost of creativity blended with an effective dose of collaboration".
Student Malachai F., said:
"We began at eight o’clock, planning the book we would write, thinking up plots and scenarios that might occur. As the day progressed, we began to write and illustrate. It was slow, but it was worth it. Our expert artists created amazing designs to match the chapters carefully written by the authors. We had lots of snacks (mostly brought by members of the team) and pizza for dinner. There were occasional breaks, during which we would rest our minds and our hands.
Write a Book in a Day raises money to help children who have cancer and to entertain kids in children’s hospitals all over Australia. The experience of Write a Book in a Day was absolutely fabulous. We had a good team, we all were joking and talking while we worked, and everyone in that room had a very, very good time. If there is anyone who wants to Write a Book in a Day, I encourage you to give it a try. And hey, you might have as much fun as I did".
The event not only sharpened leadership skills but also gave students the opportunity to create something special that will bring joy to children in hospital.
Families are warmly invited to support the cause by donating to the Kids' Cancer Project, through this link.

King's Ensembles Perform at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod
4 September 2025
+1
The Eisteddfod season has now come to a close for the Instrumental Music groups. The Eisteddfod is an excellent opportunity for our young musicians to gain valuable performance experience, participate in the local community events and experience what other community and school groups are doing in the same space.
Three groups represented King’s in their respective categories, demonstrating their skill in the community: Spruce String Quartet, Maple String Quartet and King’s Camerata.
The King’s Camerata, conducted by Mr. Ryan Chislett, is a string orchestra consisting of both Reedy Creek and Pimpama students. They competed in the ‘A’ division this year, marking King’s first endeavour into this prestigious division. With limited rehearsal opportunities together, they were able to form a cohesive ensemble and were awarded 2nd for their performance. This is quite an outstanding achievement.
Congratulations to all of the performers at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod events.

Indoor Netball Competition
4 September 2025
Students from Years 7 to 10 proudly represented King’s at the two-day INFQ Indoor Netball Carnival held at Springwood Indoor Sports Centre at the start of Term 3. The school entered two teams: a Year 7 and 8 girls team and a Year 9 and 10 mixed team.
The Year 7 and 8 girls faced a tough pool and played with determination, narrowly losing to some of the top-ranked teams. Despite their strong effort, they just missed out on progressing to the finals.
The Year 9 and 10 mixed team had an outstanding tournament, dropping only one game in the pool rounds to eventual champions Marsden. In a thrilling semi-final against Loganlea State High, the team secured a dramatic overtime victory to earn their place in the grand final. They fought hard but ultimately finished runners-up to a dominant Marsden side, proudly taking home the silver medal.
It was a fantastic two days of competitive netball, with all King’s players displaying excellent teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the carnival.
Primary School Netball Gala Day
4 September 2025
Two King’s primary school netball teams showcased their skills at the recent Netball Gala Day hosted by the Pimpama Netball Association. The school entered one team in Division 1 and another in Division 2.
The Division 2 team stepped up after earning promotion earlier this year by finishing second in Division 3 at a previous gala day. Facing older and more experienced players, they rose to the challenge, winning two of their pool games and proving they belong at this higher level.
Meanwhile, the Division 1 team had an outstanding day, remaining undefeated in all their pool matches. Their strong performance secured them a spot straight into the grand final—a cross-pool decider—where they narrowly lost to a tough St Francis Xavier team.
Both teams displayed fantastic skill, determination, and excellent team spirit throughout the day, making it a memorable and rewarding experience for all involved.
Titan's Cup Netball Tournament
4 September 2025
In Week 7, a team of Year 7 and 8 girls competed in the Titans Cup Netball Tournament held at Coomera Indoor Sports Centre. Facing strong competition in a seven-team division, the girls performed exceptionally well, finishing third overall on the day.
The team won the majority of their matches, but a standout moment came during their game against Lindisfarne — the eventual division champions. Lindisfarne had dominated throughout the tournament, winning every match by a large margin. However, King’s girls held their own, leading at halftime and pushing hard until the final whistle, narrowly losing by just two goals.
This performance is a true testament to the team’s dedication, hard work, and the positive impact of their regular training sessions.

Big Plays and Bigger Smiles at the CBSQ 5x5 Tournament
In Week 4 of Term 3, King’s Primary students brought their passion and energy to the courts at Logan Metro for the CBSQ 5x5 Tournament. We were proud to enter two strong teams in Divisions 1 and 2, and both groups gave it their all.
Our Division 1 team faced some of the toughest competition in Queensland and proved they could match it with the best. A special mention goes to Manekam and Daniel K. for their outstanding performances and relentless effort throughout the tournament.
In Division 2, our players fought hard across four exciting games, finishing with two wins and two losses. Every student made an impact on the court, with Bentley and Alec stepping up in key moments and leading their team with confidence.
The week was a fantastic celebration of teamwork, determination, and King’s spirit—and the smiles on our students’ faces said it all.
Primary 3x3 girls basketball

King’s 3x3 girls White
In Week 6, our King’s primary girls stepped onto the court for the 3x3 basketball tournament. With it also being Book Week, it was tough to find players, but we managed to put together a brave team — including Mila M., our netball superstar, trying basketball for the very first time.
Mila teamed up with Year 5 players Asher and Scarlett-Rose, plus Mozeya from Year 4, who was outstanding as our top scorer! Together, the girls showed huge heart. While they didn’t grab a win, they came so close — losing two games by just 1 point.
Each game they played, they improved, gained confidence, and showed plenty of King’s spirit. Most importantly, they had fun and made us proud!
King’s 3x3 girls Blue
The King’s Pimpama Blue team took on the 3x3 tournament with only three players and no subs, after sickness kept some teammates out. But that didn’t stop them! The girls pushed through every game with heart and energy, finishing with an impressive 5 wins out of 7 games in Division 1.
One of the highlights was a hard-fought win over King’s Reedy Creek — a matchup everyone had circled!
Maddy was dominant on defence, shutting down opponents. Grace was amazing all tournament, making big plays when it mattered. Lacey was a standout for her hustle — diving on the floor and giving 110% every game.
It was a really successful campaign, and the girls showed what King’s spirit looks like — toughness, teamwork, and never giving up!

PRIMARY DAY OF HOPE | SECONDARY CULTURAL FEST
Our Primary and Early Learning students took part in a very special Day of Hope, raising funds for 100% hOPE - an organisation working to provide education and housing for children in Uganda. Our playground was alive with colour as students proudly dressed in red, yellow and black, the colours of the Ugandan flag, and enjoyed the excitement of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, sold by our LIFE team to support the cause. The day created a wonderful atmosphere of joy, generosity and community spirit, and we are so grateful for the support of families who contributed to the success of this fundraiser.
That same spirit of celebration continued on Friday, 22 August, when our High School came alive for Cultural Fest. Students proudly dressed in their cultural attire, filling the school with colour, music and energy as we recognised and celebrated the rich diversity within our community. It was an incredible day that not only honoured the many cultures represented at King’s but also channelled our generosity towards a greater purpose. All funds raised from the event will go directly towards building a second boys’ home through 100% hOPE in Uganda. Cultural Fest was a powerful reminder of how coming together as a community can both celebrate who we are and help transform the lives of others.

Four students who are applying for the Rural Fire Service program had the chance to visit the Rocky RFS. We had an awesome time and were shown how to use the different hoses for different fire situations. The crew also showed us around the station and gave us a closer look at the gear they use when fighting fires. It was really fun, and it gave us a better idea of what it’s like to be part of the Rural Fire Service.
