We celebrated Library Lovers' Week this week to honour libraries, librarians, book lovers, and lovers of libraries. This year's theme was 'Libraries make life Sweet'
Students and staff were able to enter several different competitions, have a blind date with a book and spin the prize wheel.
Our libraries love to encourage our students to read, and we are constantly finding fun ways to engage our students in reading.

The first day of Prep is a special milestone, and it was a joy to welcome our newest students as they began their journey at King’s.
With smiles, excitement and a few butterflies, our Prep students arrived ready to learn, play and make new friends.
A highlight of the day was our special photo at the Lion marking the beginning of their school life and officially becoming King’s Kids.
Students were warmly welcomed by their teachers and quickly settled into new routines, enjoying stories, activities and colouring a special crown to wear home.
The celebrations continued with a much-loved Teddy Bear Party, where each child was given their very own King’s teddy bear. The Teddy bears joined in classroom activities, story time and play.
With their Lion photo taken, their place as King’s Kids secured, and their King’s teddy bear by their side, our Prep students truly had a wonderful first day to remember.
Mrs Sarah Mazzone - Prep Lead Teacher

On the Monday of week 3, Year 2 enjoyed an incursion that took us back to experience life in the past.
Students were able to learn about and use different types of technology and see how they have changed over time.
From playing pick-up sticks and calling on old dial phones, to writing with a quill and scrubbing laundry on a washboard, our students thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in experiencing what Australian life used to be like.
Some of our favourite activities were using a typewriter and old cameras, and playing with a hobby horse. Doing this hands-on experience enabled students to understand the ways technology has changed over time and why these changes were made. For example, when using a quill and ink to write, students noticed how difficult it was to make their writing neat and how easy it was to get ink on their fingers. Students were able to identify how pencils are easier to use and could see why feathers and ink are no longer used as a regular form of writing tool.
This term, we will continue to look into the many different technologies used for communication, at home, at work, and for travel and how they have changed over time.
This was a wonderful entry event for our HASS unit, where we are asking the question ‘How has technology changed people’s lives?’
Miss Hannah Brumby - Year 2 Teacher

Our year 4 students have had an exciting and engaging time during the bike safety sessions over the past 2 weeks. They practised essential bike safety skills, learned how to ride with confidence, and discovered the importance of balance and control. The hands-on activities made for a fun and interactive experience, helping students build their cycling skills in a safe and supportive environment.
It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and progress throughout the sessions!

A BIG Thank you to all our amazing Prep families who joined us last week for Pop Into Prep It was such an exciting event. We hope you enjoyed seeing what your little people have been up to!

In week 3, our Year 11s attended camp at Camp Drewe in Lennox Heads, NSW.
Camp is an important annual event in the life of each student at King’s. It provides students with the opportunity to be physically and spiritually challenged, as well as to socialise and interact with others in their year level. Our camps are aimed at strengthening bonds between students and providing opportunities to build new friendships whilst enjoying God’s creation.

We are excited to support one of our staff members, Jordan Lum Kon, in collecting shoes for the youth community in Fiji. Please see the flyer above for information. Below is a short description of the program for your information.
The Pacific Basketball Cup is a faith-driven initiative focused on giving back to our Pacific neighbours and supporting young people in Fiji. Led by Jordan Lum Kon, Basketball Coordinator at King’s, who is also a current international representative, the tournament combines a love for sport with a strong commitment to service.
Set to be one of Fiji’s largest basketball tournaments, the Pacific Basketball Cup creates a safe space where young people can grow physically, socially, and spiritually, while bringing families and communities together.
Funds raised through the tournament go directly back into the community, supporting court hire, youth outreach programs, basketball clinics, and initiatives that promote discipline, respect, and purpose.
Something as simple as a pair of second-hand runners can make a significant impact in Fiji. Alongside running the tournament, our team also collects and distributes shoes, clothes, and basketball equipment so young people feel supported, valued, and included.
“What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8

King’s partners with Pimpama State College each year to offer our Senior students the opportunity to undertake the Certificate 2 Health Assistance course in their Health Hub, as a stepping stone to their nursing careers. They can progress from there to complete the Certificate 3 course or undertake this as a traineeship.
Here is some feedback from our current Yr 11 intake about why they decided to undertake the course and what they have learnt in their first few lessons.
Haylee Y said, “I chose this course as I am aspiring to become a nurse. I want to be able to help people who can’t necessarily help themselves. I have met a bunch of new people and talked to them about what they are wanting to do in Health.”
“I've chosen this course as a key step towards my dream of becoming a cosmetics nurse, which requires first qualifying as a registered nurse. So far we've covered the proper usage of PPE gear and gotten straight into our first assessments of the semester. I've met heaps of new people with similar interests and passions to me, which I find super cool! It's been an exciting start and I'm eager to see what comes next!” was Kayla C comment.
Aleena S stated, “I chose this course because it's a fun way to learn new things. Plus, it's on-campus learning with medical elements, which is a really good way to gain experience. So far, we've experienced doing a ROD (Resident of the Day) where we partner up and do each other's vital signs. We’ve also learned JET’s Law and Ryan’s Rule, which can be very useful for people to know.”
Jade P “The certificate was an opportunity offered over a six-month period once a week (and includes free scrubs!). I was interested in this because it gives me a head start to learn practical activities like changing contaminated beds and the correct PPE (personal protective equipment). This course is a great opportunity and head start for anyone who wants to study any of the nursing options (RN, EN) further along.”

King’s Pimpama are very grateful to Jeff Horsley Solicitors in Upper Coomera for offering our students the opportunity to spend five days in their law firm doing hands-on work experience in the day-to-day operations of the law firm.
The students are fully integrated into the workforce, attending court proceedings and carrying out general daily office tasks. Future job opportunities can open up to students who have volunteered to experience this opportunity.
Madison D attended a week in her 2025 December holidays and thoroughly enjoyed this experience and gained an insight into the world of a law firm.
This is what she said: “During my time at the Jeff Horsey Law Firm, I enjoyed not only making new connections but learning new skills to help me in future tasks. When I first began, I had a very warm introduction to the office, where I met all the staff and gained an understanding of their different roles in the environment. This internship spanned over a week, so from Monday to Friday seeing how a week progressed in a fast-paced office environment. During each day, I gained new skills such as filing, reviewing cases, and lastly assisting with everyday office tasks. As each day went on, I gained an insight into the legal world, and what day to day tasks could look like. I got to see real life demonstrations of the legal world and what I could possibly be looking at in future jobs. This work experience was very interesting, and I reflected on a lot over the week considering whether I could see myself in an environment like this in the future.”
