Lalania’s Visits Lalania Tusa is a contemporary Aboriginal artist; she also works for Anglicare, Jarjum’s Connect. We first met Lalania through community contacts when we started our RAP. She reached out to ask if we could help with Christmas presents for the local Jarjum’s Christmas event. She will be visiting the Centre every fortnight throughout Terms 2 and 3 to run a program that supports both staff and children in learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. So far, she has shared valuable knowledge about bush tucker and traditional medicines, including how they are used, as well as the meaning behind the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. Next fortnight, she will be bringing in some traditional artefacts and explaining their uses, which will be a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity for everyone.
