King’s is passionate about music education and the musical development of its students.
Year 3 students began their journey into instrumental music this term when they were allocated either a guitar or keyboard. Students will learn this instrument during Semester 2.
Mr Davis, Executive Principal, has generously paid for these instruments, which the students will be able to keep at the conclusion of the program to continue their music learning journey. Thank you very much, Mr Davis.
Our future worship leaders are on their way!

On the first day of Term 3, the Year 5 students kicked off their 'Can Science solve it?' unit with an exciting, mind-blowing incursion. They saw amazing experiments and used different materials to create new substances. They explored the viscosity of substances and density, all while having lots of fun.
"That was amazing! I love Science!" said Isabella Prodger from 5PS.
On our Year 6 excursion at the end of Term 2, we took a trip to Southbank, Brisbane to go to the QLD Parliament House. Starting the day, we took a long walk next to the Brisbane River. On our walk, we looked at Street Beach and the big gardens and flowers. We took a break to eat a snack and play on the playground next to Street Beach. After that, we started heading to the Queensland Parliament House. We passed the Wheel Of Brisbane and the big Brisbane sign. Mrs Sanson decided that we should take a photo of us climbing over all of the letters. It was so much fun trying to get into the letters and also getting out. It took a while to get to the Parliament House but, eventually, we got there.
Michael Crandon MP, State Member for Coomera, was standing out the front of Parliament House waiting for us to arrive. He welcomed us and we all had a photo with him. Then a lovely lady called Jenny took us on a tour. We walked through a security mechanism to make sure that we weren’t bringing anything illegal into Parliament. Jenny took us into a room where she showed us all of the positions of parliament. She told us what a mace was and what to do, and what not to do while looking at everything.
Then, we walked through the Parliament House and met a few more people such as Michael Healy. We continued to the legislative chamber to do a fun role play. There were multiple parts with a script. It was really fun and felt like we were in a real political debate. We went up to view a real debate in the hope to watch it, but it had finished just before we got there. However, we did find out that someone has to watch the mace while no one is in the room. We completed our tour and left the Queensland Parliament House.
To end the excursion we took another quick walk to the botanical gardens to eat lunch. We played games with each other and we had loads of fun before returning to school by bus.
Being at Parliament was really fun and we learned a lot about politics.

On the last day of Term 2, primary students and teachers experienced the essence of India as they participated in our inaugural Indian Mission Fest. This was a great opportunity to learn about and value India's rich, ethnic and cultural diversity, and to raise money for Manna Ministries and Rock High School in Hyderabad.
We were so blessed to have the support of many of our Indian families during the afternoon. They shared their culture with us by dressing the students in traditional costumes and teaching traditional Indian dance. Students definitely put shyness aside as they danced to the bright upbeat Indian music.
Our staff organised competitive games of ‘backyard cricket’ which the children loved immensely. The traditional Indian cuisine tasted by the students was very popular.
Students enjoyed some Indian crafts such as creating Indian flags, and plaited Indian coloured bracelets to remind them to pray for India.
The Hub was a reflective room where students could come to pray for India. Overall, it was such an enjoyable and fun afternoon, bringing our two communities together to support and bless India as it goes through some tough COVID times.
The King's Pimpama community would like to wish Elijah Winnington (Class of 2017) all the very best for the Tokyo Olympics.
At the Australian Olympic qualifying trials, Elijah's 400m freestyle time was the fastest recorded in the world in 2021.
Elijah started at King's in Pre Prep, served as Rayleigh House Captain, and led by example with his inspiring dedication to reach his Olympic dream.

200m Freestyle - 11:43 am - Tuesday 27 July

Pimpama nurse Sue Robertson married Mr Allan Clements on 24 April 2021 at the Broadwater Chapel by the Sea (formerly the chapel of Gold Coast Hospital, her former workplace). The ceremony was followed by a casual reception at Cafe Catalina in the afternoon.
Both Sue and Allan were widowed: Allan in 2015 and Sue in 2013. Both their spouses were just 54 years old when they passed away.
"We met in 2017 and are very blessed to have found each other," said Nurse Sue, who attends Robina Newlife Church with her new husband.
"Our good friend and Pastor, Melissa Lipsett, married us and Pastor Brad Foote prayed a blessing over us," she added.
The reception was attended by close family and a few friends. Sadly her brothers, who live in Perth, could not attend due to lockdown but her sister-in-law, Angela James-Wallace, just made it in to be her bridesmaid.
The newlywed couple honeymooned in Darwin during June/July school break.
On behalf of the Pimpama community, we wish Sue and Allan long life and happiness in their marriage.
Nearly 120 parents, students, and friends from all three King's campuses joined together for some school holiday golfing fun at The Club, Parkwood on 23 June. Our inaugural King's Golf Day saw seasoned golfers compete alongside enthusiastic novices in a 4-ball Ambrose competition, followed by dinner, awards and live music entertainment.
The top team was E2W – Vicky, Mathew, Bradley and Cienna – who had the best score of the day at 51 points. E2W was closely followed by 'Three V’s and some Guy' who scored 51.4 and comprised of Pimpama Principal, Mr Rob Verreynne, Jaydn Verreynne, Ruben Verreynne and Reedy Creek High School Chaplain, Guy Ormerod.

The Exit 49 interchange upgrade will deliver significant improvements in safety and traffic flow efficiency by keeping traffic moving through the improved interchange and thereby reducing queuing.
Rapid industrial and residential development in the northern Gold Coast area is adding pressure to already busy Pacific Motorway (M1) interchanges. In response to this, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is upgrading the Pimpama Interchange (Exit 49).
The project will deliver a number of safety benefits to motorists using the M1 and the surrounding local road network, including Attenborough Boulevard, Yawalpah Road, Rifle Range Road, Waverley Drive and Bull Road. The upgrade will improve traffic flow and increase efficiency at the interchange and improve the reliability of access conditions for freight movements and transit times for all motorway users.
Improvements will be achieved by including a new bridge across the M1 with additional lanes, removal of existing roundabouts and installation of traffic signals, relocation of on-ramps and off-ramps away from the main interchange with signalised intersections that work in coordination with the rest of the interchange.
This project is jointly funded by the Queensland Government and the Australian Government (AusGov Infrastructure).
Community consultation on the preliminary design will be undertaken in mid-2021. Register your interest in receiving updates by emailing the project team.
