Celebrating 10 Years of Pimpama - Episode 9
Episode 9 of our 10-part video series celebrates the pioneers, teachers, and families who helped build the foundation of Pimpama over the past decade. The evolution of our school would not have been possible without the amazing staff who have supported and embarked on this journey with us.
We honour their incredible and sacrificial efforts, which continue to shape Pimpama into a place of growth, belonging, and inspiration for every student and family who is part of our community.
Keep an eye out for the final video in the next newsletter.

To finish off Term 3, our Primary students celebrated creativity, courage, and community. From art masterclasses and chapels to student performances, silent discos, the colour run, and so much more — it was a week to remember!
Our students shone brightly as they shared their talents and passions, truly reflecting our theme of Mission Possible. A huge thank you to everyone, especially our amazing Chaplaincy Team, who made this week possible.
The Year 10 Mathematics Extension Class had the opportunity to visit Movie World for our upcoming Problem-Solving Modelling Task. The assessment required us to take a photo of a rollercoaster and recreate its track using polynomial functions, such as linear and quadratic equations, by slicing each rollercoaster section into the parts of a piecewise function. The main objective of the excursion was to capture a clear photo of a rollercoaster that we could replicate using polynomial functions.
When we arrived at Movie World, it was packed with families enjoying their school holidays, which resulted in many rides having wait times exceeding an hour. Our class travelled in groups of 3 or 4. My group first went to the DC rides, where we experienced the Batwing Spaceshot and the Green Lantern Coaster, taking a couple of photos of each ride. Next, we visited the Looney Tunes section for a dose of nostalgia and rode the Road Runner Rollercoaster, which was both fun and brief. We also checked out the Junior Driving School and the Looney Tunes Carousel, which felt slower than we remembered.
News spread that there were big prizes to be won, and most of the class tried their best to win something. My group managed to win only tiny rubber duckies, while others won giant chicken and octopus plushies. Some rides were closed or had such long wait times that we couldn't experience them. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that felt like a reward for all our struggles and hard work over the past three terms.
We look forward to reading the completed Maths reports that the students write this term, based on their Movie World excursion.
Student Sejal V. - Year 10
Our students recently returned from an incredible Japan cultural tour, where they explored the country’s rich history, vibrant traditions, and modern attractions. From visiting local schools and ancient temples to enjoying theme parks and street food, the experience gave them both educational insights and unforgettable memories.
Cloydene M.
The Japan Tour was an unforgettable experience as I explored a culture very different from ours, made meaningful friendships with Japanese students, and definitely spent too much on food and souvenirs. My highlight was visiting the Japanese schools, Nara Ikuei and Seikyo Gakuen, because it allowed me to interact with students during their classes and understand the cultural differences between Japan and Australia.
The scenery at Universal Studios Japan, Hakone, and Disneyland was incredible, and exploring Japan's historical sites, museums, and temples deepened my knowledge of its history and traditions. But the convenience store runs, late-night shopping sprees, and countless train rides were just as iconic. Being able to understand written Japanese on signs and spoken Japanese by locals made me realise how much I have learned in the Japanese subject. Since returning to Australia, I have realised how much I love Japan and can't wait to visit again!
Bhakti V.
I had the opportunity to participate in a Japan study tour, arranged by Mrs Carson, and it was a profound experience that combined cultural immersion with an incredible adventure across Osaka, Odawara and Tokyo. The journey offered a perfect blend of education and enjoyment, beginning with visits to Nara Ikuei High School and Seikyo Gakuen High School, which gave us a firsthand insight into Japanese students' school life. The Nara students then guided us to a memorable exploration of ancient temples and local shops, offering a deep understanding of the region's history and traditions.
One of the most thrilling aspects was exploring modern Japan, including visits to Disneyland and Universal Studios, where we tried viral snacks and enjoyed rides such as the Flying Dinosaur. This tour was an unforgettable opportunity that provided me with a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture and lots of valuable connections with my peers. I highly recommend this study tour to other students, as you will return home with a lifetime of memories to cherish forever.
On Monday, 13 October, we gathered to celebrate a milestone moment in the lives of our Year 12 students at King’s Christian College, their Final Assembly.
The event marked the culmination of their high school journey and the beginning of an exciting new chapter beyond the classroom. It was a heartfelt time of reflection and celebration, where students were recognised for their dedication, perseverance, and achievements. Honours and course completion certificates were presented, along with special awards acknowledging the unique contributions of this year’s cohort.
Our Campus Principal, Mr Rob Verreynne, addressed the assembly with words of encouragement and officially announced the Year 12 cohort name for 2025 – Journey.
Following the ceremony, students gathered to plant a tree, a meaningful act symbolising growth, unity, and the legacy they leave behind for future generations of King’s students. This tree will stand as a lasting reminder of the friendships, challenges, and triumphs shared by the Class of 2025.
On Saturday, 30 August, our Year 12 students came together to celebrate their Formal, a highlight of the school calendar and a special milestone in their high school journey.
The Formal was not only a chance for students to dress up and enjoy a glamorous evening, but also an opportunity to celebrate the friendships and connections they have formed over their years of schooling. Joined by their peers and teachers, the night was filled with laughter, joy, and plenty of memorable moments. Students and staff enjoyed a delicious meal, while the dance floor was alive with energy throughout the night. Photobooths captured the fun and excitement, providing keepsakes of the evening, while awards and speeches highlighted the unique character of the cohort and the memories they have created together.
The Year 12 Formal was a fitting way to honour the achievements of the graduating class, reflecting on their journey so far and looking forward with anticipation to the future that awaits each of them.
During the September holidays, ten of our students and staff travelled to Mackay to attend Extreme Conference 2025 – Remnant. Extreme is a youth and young adults’ conference hosted by Mackay Christian Family Church, created to equip and inspire the next generation to impact their communities through worship, teaching and encounters with the Holy Spirit. This year’s theme, Remnant, encouraged young people to rise up with boldness and faith in today’s culture. The conference featured powerful sessions led by guest speakers, including Aaron and Sarahbeth Smith from Upperroom Dallas and Ben Wilson, alongside the Extreme team.
Our students and staff had an incredible time engaging in worship, receiving prayer and experiencing life-changing impartation. Many shared testimonies of renewed passion, courage and clarity in their faith journey. It was also a time of fellowship and encouragement, strengthening relationships within the group. We are excited to see how the seeds planted during this experience will continue to grow and bless our school community.
