Year 12 - My Last First Day of High School
28 January 2026
+11
This week, our Year 12 students returned to campus for a significant milestone, their last first day of high school. It was a day designed to set the tone for the year ahead, grounded in purpose, connection, and reflection.
The day began with a powerful, student-led chapel, where our Year 12 Chapel Culture Captains led worship and shared inspiring messages. Their leadership set a thoughtful and faith-filled foundation, reminding students of the values that will guide them through their final year.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of activities aimed at supporting them holistically. These included team-building activities to strengthen relationships, sessions focused on holistic health and wellbeing, and practical conversations around how to look after themselves during a demanding year.
Students also engaged in a Q&A panel with previous Year 12 graduates, who shared honest insights, encouragement, and advice drawn from their own experiences.
The day also provided time for students to connect within their Houses, meeting with their Heads of House to reflect on expectations, goals, and the importance of finishing strong together.
The final moment of the day was the presentation of their Senior Jerseys.
It was a purposeful and memorable start to the year, and we look forward to walking alongside our Year 12 students as they embrace their final year of school with courage, commitment, and community.

Term 1 Library Events
28 January 2026
Term 1 is an exciting time for the King’s libraries. We will be celebrating two major events in February this year.
The first is Queensland School Library Week in week 3. This is a week that aims to highlight the important work of school libraries and school library staff in Queensland.
This year King’s Libraries will be participating in the Queensland School Library Week art competition. We will be awarding prizes in each category, and the winners will have the opportunity to submit their artwork into the state-wide competition.
Art competition details:
Prep – Year 2 - What is your favourite story? Draw or paint a picture to illustrate this. Your picture should be on an A4 sheet of paper.
Year 3 – Year 6 - Produce an artwork to reflect the theme ‘Light the Way’. Year 7 – Year 12 - Produce an artwork or take a photograph to reflect the theme ‘Light the Way’.
All entries are due back to the library by Friday the 20th of February.
For more information, please talk to a library staff member or visit the Queensland School Library website https://www.qsla.org.au/qslw
The second major library event is Library Lover’s Week in week 4. This year the theme for Library Lovers’ Week is ‘Libraries Make Life Sweet’. We will be celebrating all the reasons why we love libraries and all the ways they make life sweeter.
In this week we will have competitions, lots of prizes, blind dates with a book and a prize wheel. We would love to encourage all students to visit the library during this week to be a part of the celebration.
We are looking forward to these and many more fun library events in 2026!

A Wonderful Mix in 2026!
As King’s College of Teaching (KCOT) launches into its fourth year, the variety of people looking to pursue teaching as a career has grown immensely.
From mothers and fathers wanting to move into a fresh industry, to recent school graduates looking for a career of purpose, KCOT now has pre-service teachers in almost every Primary year level and every Secondary subject area across the three King’s campuses.
To begin 2026, Mr Russell Meyers, Reedy Creek Campus Principal, spoke to all KCOT trainees at our Launch Day this week, setting out a vision for King’s Christian College across South-East Queensland. He observed, ‘It is very encouraging to meet our future teachers of King’s and to hear their excitement about teaching and heart for Jesus Christ all in the same moment.’
KCOT trainees spend a day every week of the school year with a mentor teacher, gaining crucial experience as they study Education and prepare for a career in teaching.
The King’s College of Teaching (KCOT) is a program that equips us as future teachers through weekly exposure to school and classroom life at King’s. This is something Russell Myers talked to us about today, and why King’s has the culture it does. He reminded us that we have the Holy Spirit as a tool to embrace and model a Christian worldview to students in a world that challenges their identity.
This is King’s theme for this year, and as KCOT students, we have the opportunity to put this into practice not just every week, but in our communities.
We also have the opportunity to grow God’s kingdom by educating tomorrow’s Christian leaders. This is King’s mission statement that we were reminded of today, which highlights our true purpose as future teachers.
These reminders Russell provided in today’s Insight session will shape our goals and priorities for this year and throughout the rest of our program.

Griffith Future Leaders Retreat
4 February 2026
King’s Pimpama nominated five students to participate in the Future Leaders Retreat held on the Gold Coast from 12 to 14 January. Each student experienced something different and came away from this retreat with insight and inspiration into aspects of future careers and new friendships.
Sofia H said, “I can confidently say it was the best decision I made. The experience was the highlight of my holidays. One of my major highlights was participating in hands-on practical courses tailored to our future career interests. As someone interested in medicine, I got to work in a realistic nursing lab where I learned essential skills like CPR and how to properly draw up an IV. A unique experience that does not come around every day.”
Siena B found friendships “One of the biggest highlights was the friendships we formed. It was amazing how quickly we built real connections in just two days. I went only knowing the people from King’s, but I left with so many more friends than I ever expected.”
Dylan F commented, “I applied for the Future Leaders Retreat because I wanted to experience university life and build my leadership skills. One of the biggest highlights was the leadership workshops delivered by industry experts—they were engaging, practical, and genuinely inspiring.”
Arlette D explained, “The retreat personally showed me the impact you can make when you stay true to who you are and walk in your God‑intended purpose. Hearing from reputable alumni like Bonnie Hancock was incredibly inspiring.”
And finally, Noku C stated that “I think my highlight from the retreat was seeing the way different people interact, for example, the extroverted leaders, the quiet ones who only spoke when needed and the people in between. Seeing how different people approached this unfamiliar environment was inspiring and uplifting, and a cool opportunity”
They all felt future King’s students should participate in this retreat because it offers opportunities that one cannot get in a normal school setting: real-world leadership experience, networking, personal growth, and a chance to discover what kind of leader you want to become.
