As we approach the upcoming school break, our Deputy Principal reflects on the journey of learning at King's. In his message, he highlights the importance of lifelong learning, not just within the classroom but as a continual process that shapes us throughout our lives. Drawing on the wisdom of renowned educators and Scripture, he encourages us to embrace a childlike curiosity and faith as we grow in knowledge and maturity.
"Learning is a lifelong journey that should excite and inspire us at every stage of life. It’s not just about academic success, but about nurturing curiosity and a love of discovery."

Father's Day Celebrations in Primary
30 August 2024
King's organised a fun-filled Father's Day Celebration for our Primary community and it was exciting to see so many dads join us at school on Thursday, 29 September. The campus was buzzing during the adrenalin-charged afternoon across our sports fields, Prep Centre, Year 5 precinct, and COLA. Our special guests joined their children in various activities, including paper plane competitions, epic sports battles, mini golf, basketball, scavenger hunts, sack races, and more. The aim of the celebration was to thank and honour our King's dads for their unwavering support and positive influence in their children's lives – thank you all for being devoted to your children's growth and learning journey at King’s. Father's Day was celebrated across Australia on Sunday, 1 September, and we hope that all of our King’s dads felt so loved and valued as our nation focussed on the important role of fatherhood.
Year 4 Camp 2024 | CYC Burleigh
30 August 2024
From August 19 - 21, 2024, the Year 4 students embarked on their first offsite camp at the Christian Youth Camp (CYC) in Burleigh. The sunny winter morning set the perfect stage for their adventure, as they waved goodbye to their parents and set off on a short bus ride to their temporary home away from home. Upon arrival, our students quickly settled in and began a range of exciting activities including giant stand-up paddleboarding at Tallebudgeera Creek, bodyboarding, and various team-based initiative games. These all encouraged teamwork and collaboration, with stand-up paddleboarding being a highlight. This beach-based event had students building sandcastles and tackling fun challenges, each group working together with a clear plan in mind.
Evenings at the camp were especially heartwarming, with devotions and worship sessions led by King's Chaplains. Students really engaged with the biblical messages and each took something meaningful from the evening chapels. Over three action-packed days, our Year 4s made countless happy memories as they developed new skills, and gained greater confidence and connections with their peers. Thanks to CYC and our dedicated teachers for making Year 4's first camp a resounding success!

This week in Primary School, we celebrated our incredible Education Assistants (EAs) as part of Australian Teacher Assistant Week. On Tuesday, 3 September, the group enjoyed a beautiful morning tea organised by Lisa Ingram, from the Primary Admin team, and were blessed with a small thank-you gift. They also enjoyed an hour of reflective time together as they participated in a devotional art activity led by Mrs Karen Wendijk, which explored God's creation through landscapes and collages. Our EA team is a remarkable group of individuals who serve our college community every day with dedication and compassion as they embody the character of Jesus and support their colleagues, students, and community. Please join us in appreciating our Educational Assistants for the valuable role they play in our students' learning journey.

Celebrating our Noah's Ark Dads
3 September 2024
Noah's Ark came alive with laughter and fun during our Father’s Day Celebration Night on Monday, 2 September. It was an evening to remember as our wonderful dads gathered in the Noah's Ark playground with their children. The event featured a variety of activities, including a mini-golf course, ten-pin bowling and even some relaxation, with children treating their dads to massages. Our King’s Kids displayed their creativity by crafting paper planes and making their dad a 'hand' printed t-shirt to wear for the occasion. It was heartwarming to see our Noah's Ark dads and their children enjoying this special time together and building new connections in our Early Learning Centre community. We extend a heartfelt thank you to all the dads who participated—your presence and enthusiasm made this evening unforgettable!

Year 9 Camp 2024 | Canberra and Thredbo
27 August 2024
The Year 9 Ski Camp was held from Sunday, 11 August - Thursday, 15 August, and gave our students an unforgettable experience. This experience gave Year 9s the chance to be physically, emotionally, and spiritually challenged while strengthening bonds with their peers. From the moment they arrived at the Jindabyne and Thredbo Ski Resorts, the students embraced new adventures, from skiing on the snowfields to exploring the natural beauty of the area. Along the way, they enjoyed moments of reflection and devotion, deepening their connection with God and His creation. There was ample opportunity for fun and growth and the chance to form new friendships that will likely outlast their time at King's.
Student Highlights:
"The 2024 Year 9 Jindabyne Ski Trip was eagerly anticipated. It began with a 3:30 am start, followed by a long day of travel that included a flight and a five-hour bus ride. We arrived at the Adventist Alpine Resort to a warm welcome and a delicious three-course meal. The next three days were filled with early mornings, skiing, and devotions. The ski lessons were invaluable, and the free skiing time with friends was unforgettable. The messages from our chaplains, Kae and Riley, and Mr. Sealey were deeply impactful. New friendships were formed, and it was refreshing to see our teachers relax outside of school. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this trip possible, especially our dedicated King's staff."
- Nina Allen
"The long-awaited Jindabyne Ski Trip was a highlight for our cohort. After a day of travel, the next three days flew by with early mornings, hearty breakfasts, bus rides to Thredbo, ski lessons, and plenty of fun on the slopes with friends. Evenings were spent with dinners and devotions, including a memorable talk from Mr Sealey on our final night about the people we aspire to become. On behalf of the Year 9 students, thank you to everyone who made this trip possible—teachers, chaplains, ski instructors, accommodation staff, bus drivers, and the EducaTours team. And to the students - from early mornings to late nights, from the buses to the slopes, thank you for bringing the light."

Year 11 Camp 2024 | Lake Ainsworth
27 August 2024
Year 11 Camp can be summarised in two words: growth and connection. From August 19 - 21, 2024, our Year 11 cohort experienced an unforgettable camp at Lake Ainsworth. Filled with outdoor adventures and bonding activities, King's seniors were challenged physically, emotionally, and spiritually, while building stronger bonds among the group. The camp was a mix of group-themed challenges and students enjoyed rock climbing, sailing, canoeing, and archery tag, all aiming for the YR11 Camp Shield. Evenings were marked by purposeful student-led chapel sessions, where students engaged in worship and reflection, connecting with God and each other. An Amazing Race House challenge brought fierce competition, with activities testing the students' teamwork and determination. FINNEY House emerged as this year's victorious camp champs. This camp was more than just a series of challenges—it was a journey of personal growth, strengthened friendships, and a deepened sense of community. Special thanks to the teachers and chaplaincy team for making this experience so impactful, laying the foundation for our Year 11s to shine as the future leaders of King’s.

King's Shares 'R U OK?' Message
3 September 2024
This week at King’s, we promoted the ‘R U OK?’ message in various ways across our school. This annual nationwide campaign emphasises the importance of being in tune with the wellbeing of those around us. Throughout the week, our Student Wellbeing team coordinated events and giveaways as they spoke with students across all year levels about the importance of checking in with your mates, asking for help and being great listeners and encouragers. The activities included Chappy Challenges and colouring in with Preps, a slime factory in The Hub, and Handball and Volleyball competitions. KTTC staff also used the opportunity to host a pancake breakfast, cooked by Student Wellbeing, and to do craft activities with students, making the time and space to ask 'RU OK?' Our Special thanks to King's Wellbeing Team and KTTC for planning and running these events and spending time connecting with our students and staff. Let's continue spreading the R U OK? Day message every day - together, we can make our community stronger and healthier.
Is someone you know struggling? Ask them, ‘R U OK?’ and spark a conversation that could change a life. Visit ruok.org.au for more information and helpful resources.

King's Swell Festival Entry
6 September 2024
+1
We are excited to announce that, for the first time, our school is participating in the Swell Sculpture Festival, held on the stunning shores of Currumbin Beach from the 6th to the 15th of September. Our entry into this prestigious event is a collaborative artwork that beautifully tells the story of the Gold Coast shoreline through a striking combination of 50 clay houses and towering timber structures. This project has brought together students from Years 7 - 10, teachers from all three campuses, support and admin staff, and even our Deputy Principal, Damien Taylor, who personally created one of the clay houses. The juxtaposition of the small, handcrafted cottages and the towering timber structures represents the contrast between the Gold Coast’s historical roots and its modern skyline. The collaboration showcases the incredible creativity and unity of our school community. We’re immensely proud to see the hard work of our students and staff come to life at such a well-known event. This project was initiated and driven by Jody Lock, whose vision and leadership helped bring this artwork to life. Our talented Art Teachers played a crucial role in managing the construction of the clay houses. We invite everyone to come down to Currumbin Beach and experience the artwork firsthand. Let’s support our budding young artists and celebrate this wonderful achievement together!
