Reedy Creek Comes Alive for Carnival Day!
Our Reedy Creek community came together on Saturday, 9 August to celebrate Carnival Day! The campus was filled with families, friends and plenty of excitement.
There was something for everyone to enjoy. Children loved the rides and games, food stalls kept us well fed, and live performances added music and colour to the day. Sporting competitions brought the energy, with plenty of cheering and encouragement from the sidelines.
A big thank you to the staff, students, families and friends who joined us and helped make the day such a success. We are already looking forward to next year’s Carnival Day and the chance to do it all again.

The Creative Arts Department is delighted to celebrate the success of Year 12 student Christina H.! Christina’s stunning photography has been selected for the Energies 25 Exhibition, a prestigious showcase of emerging young artists on the Gold Coast.
This annual exhibition is held at the Home of the Arts (HOTA), giving students the opportunity to have their work displayed in a professional gallery setting. Christina’s photographs will be on display from 13 September to 9 November, where they will be viewed by a wide audience of art lovers and industry professionals.
We are so proud of Christina’s achievement and the creativity and dedication she has shown in her art.
Please follow @kingscollegeart on Instagram to see more work from the High School Art Rooms.
Follow Kings College Art on InstagramOur Year 3, 4, and 6 students have been exploring different art forms this term, drawing inspiration from renowned artists and creative traditions. Their work has sparked imagination, self-expression, and a celebration of creativity across the year levels.
Year 3 have been inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and are designing their own unique artworks on calico bags.
Year 4 have been inspired by the vibrant artwork of Jimmy Pike and the words of Psalm 19:1–2, creating these stunning woven bowls that reflect both creativity and wonder.
Year 6 have been exploring the Manga art form, and using the skills they’ve developed throughout the term, they are now designing original Manga characters inspired by themselves and their friends.
We’re proud to showcase students who are actively pursuing a career in the trades. These spotlights highlight the hands-on experience, practical skills, and personal growth our students gain as they explore real industry pathways and prepare for life beyond school.

The Sport Development Program Trainees collaborated with the Year 5 Leaders to explore the qualities of effective leadership. Through interactive games and practical activities, students were able to experience leadership in a sporting context. The session proved valuable for both the Year 5 students and the Sport Development Program Trainees, reinforcing important leadership principles through collaboration and hands-on learning.
Our Year 11 students are gaining valuable real-world skills through the Certificate II in Hospitality, developing both customer service expertise and practical cooking abilities. They recently enjoyed preparing grilled sandwiches and burgers—experience that equips them with the skills needed to pursue employment in cafés or restaurants.
At the Year 10 and 11 Assembly, we welcomed Chris McAllister as our special guest speaker. Chris, a qualified Heavy Vehicle Automotive Mechanic, shared his passion for working on the school buses and spoke to students about the qualities he values in an apprentice. He highlighted how a positive attitude can make all the difference when securing a job.
The Year 10 students have been busy creating thoughtful Father’s Day gifts during their hands-on learning activities at Bunnings. Each student has put time, care, and creativity into making a special gift for their dad, giving it that personal, homemade touch.
The students really enjoy the opportunity to craft something meaningful that they can proudly give to their fathers. It’s wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm in action.
The KTTC Year 12s celebrated their final 10 days of school in their PJs. The students are excited about finishing school and continuing in their chosen vocation. We wish the Year 12s all the best in their final examinations and assessments.
28 July - Beach Schools Cup
Five teams from Years 9 to 11 hit the sand over the weekend of 16 August for the Coolangatta Beach Schools Cup. Students enjoyed two great days of competition, playing with enthusiasm and showing plenty of teamwork under the summer sun. It was a fantastic opportunity for our athletes to challenge themselves against other schools while representing King’s with pride.
28 July - King's vs Weydon School (England)
Weydon School from England visited on 28 July for a series of friendly fixtures. Two King's rugby sides and two netball teams delivered strong performances, showing great teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout.
29 July - Open Girls Touch Football vs Singapore University
King’s Christian College had the pleasure of hosting the Singapore University team for a friendly Touch Football match against our Open Girls side. It was a wonderful afternoon of competition, with both teams displaying skill, teamwork and great sportsmanship. The match provided our students with a valuable experience of playing against an international side.
5-6 August - High School APS Athletics Carnival Champions
The recent APS carnivals saw King’s athletes deliver outstanding performances across both the Primary (10–12 yrs) and Secondary (13–19 yrs) divisions, showcasing incredible talent, determination, and school spirit.
10–12 Years Carnival
Our younger athletes showed grit and determination, with standout achievements including:
The 11 years Boys team powered through to claim the Age Group Champion title.
In the overall points tally, King’s finished second in a closely contested battle with All Saints taking first place and Coomera Anglican coming third.
13–19 Years Carnival
Our Secondary team continued King’s proud tradition of athletic excellence. Individual highlights included:
King’s also claimed Age Group Champion titles in the 13 yrs, 14 yrs, 15 yrs, and 16 yrs Boys, as well as the 16 yrs Girls.
Record-Breaking Feats
In a fantastic team effort, King’s secured the Overall Championship for the 7th year in a row, reinforcing our reputation as a powerhouse in APS athletics. Congratulations to all our athletes, coaches, and support staff for their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.
7 August - Primary School APS Athletics Carnival Runners
What a day for our Primary School athletes! From start to finish, they brought energy, determination, and a team-first attitude to every event. With several standout performances, they pushed themselves to the limit and showed what it means to compete with heart.
Finishing as runners-up, our students proved that King’s spirit shines both on and off the track.
Vicki Wilson Shield Team Champions
It was a tournament to remember for King’s Netball, with both our Junior Shield Team and Opens Cup Team producing outstanding performances at the prestigious Vicki Wilson State Titles. Across two action-packed days, the best schools in Queensland battled it out, and King’s once again proved we belong right at the top.
For our Junior Shield team, the stage was set to defend their crown after finishing first in back-to-back years. Day one could not have gone better, as the girls powered through pool play undefeated. Slick attacking combinations and relentless defensive pressure left opponents scrambling and built momentum for a finals campaign to remember.
In the Shield quarter final against fellow powerhouse Canterbury College, the girls showed class and composure under pressure, securing a strong 28 to 16 win. The semi-final followed a similar story, with King’s controlling the game from start to finish in a 29 to 15 victory over Fairholme College to book their grand final spot.
The grand final, played on the Nissan Arena show court, saw our girls rise to the big occasion against St James College. Under the pressure of the biggest stage, they delivered their best netball yet, dominating from the first whistle to claim a 36 to 18 win and secure the Vicki Wilson Shield title for the third consecutive year, a truly remarkable achievement.
7 - 8 August - State Vicki Wilson Cup Team (Seniors)
For our Opens team, the tournament was all about redemption after finishing eighth in 2024, and what a response they delivered. Like their junior counterparts, day one saw them sweep through pool play undefeated, with smart attacking play and fierce defensive efforts setting the tone for the knockout stages.
Their quarter final against Marsden State High was one of the matches of the tournament, with King’s showing nerves of steel in a thrilling 30 to 28 win. In the semi-final, they shifted gears and dominated Moreton Bay College with a commanding 10-goal victory, booking their place in the grand final.
The final brought a familiar rivalry with Somerset College, and the girls left everything on the court. In a hard-fought battle, they pushed their opponents all the way but ultimately fell just short, 31 to 23, to finish as State Runners Up. While the loss stung, silver at this level is an incredible step forward and a testament to the grit, growth, and talent of this group.
What made the weekend even more special was seeing both King’s Junior and Senior teams competing on finals day at Nissan Arena, a powerful reminder of the strength of our program and the culture of excellence these athletes continue to build. From the unseen hours of training to the big moments on court, these results reflect everything King’s Netball stands for.
We are proud. We are King’s.
Recently, seven of our talented King’s Skipperoos proudly represented Australia at the 2025 World Championship Series in Kawasaki, Japan. Competing across three major tournaments—the International Open, Junior World Championships, and World Championships—they stood out among 2,600 athletes from 30 countries.
The event was held in extremely challenging conditions, with soaring heat and 15 new World Records set. It was live-streamed worldwide by the International Jump Rope Union and broadcast on the Olympic Channel. Before competing, Team Australia was honoured at a reception at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo, followed by two days of intensive training.
International Open Tournament – ‘Top 20’ Results
Junior World Championships – ‘Top 20’ Results
King’s Skipperoo’s coach, past student Jasmine Hawkins (Class of 2021), continues to achieve her own success at the World Championships.
‘Top 20’ Results
Earlier this season, the team broke a World Record at the Australian Nationals in the Speed Relay. To follow that with a silver medal at the World Championships is an extraordinary achievement!
We are so proud of all our Skipperoos. Competing on the world stage, far from home and in tough conditions, they demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and determination. Congratulations to every athlete, and thank you to the families and supporters who made this possible.
Our library has been buzzing with excitement as we celebrated Science Week! Alongside vibrant displays and decorations, Mr Holman from the High School Science Department has been leading hands-on experiments each day during second break, giving our Primary students the chance to explore and discover. This much-loved week not only brings plenty of fun but also sparks curiosity and inspires a love of science in our young learners.
Library and Information Week (28 July – 3 August 2025) is held each year across Australia to celebrate and showcase the work of library staff and the services they provide to their communities.
This year’s theme was ‘to read or not to read’. Literacy does matter and our library staff encourage our students to read.
Throughout the week we have showcased several of our services and resources that our King’s Libraries offer. Our friendly library staff are here to help all our students to thrive. We have a large range of online and physical resources that to help our students excel in their studies. We also have a huge range of fiction and special interest non-fiction to grow their imagination.
Our students were involved in several competitions across the week.
We hope you continue to encourage your children to develop the love of reading.
On Tuesday, 19 August, the Life Team came together to host a whole-school event: Day of Hope, a cultural concert paired with a barbecue, proudly supporting the charity 100% Hope, a school and boarding facility for school-aged children in Uganda.
The Day of Hope is a highlight of our school calendar, offering students from Noah’s Ark through to Year 12 a special opportunity to celebrate their diverse cultures while contributing to a meaningful cause. This year’s event featured student-led performances throughout the day, including students as young as Year 2, who took pride in showcasing their cultures.
Performances kicked off with a mini concert at King's Early Learning Centre, Noah’s Ark, followed by both primary and high school break times. Highlights included our high school rock band playing some of Australia’s greatest hits, dance performances representing Māori, Samoan, Tongan, Korean, and African cultures, and inspiring performances by our primary school choirs alongside the King’s dance troupe. Together, these acts beautifully demonstrated the rich arts and culture that thrive within our school and our country.
The Day of Hope was a great success! We are excited to share the final fundraising figures in the coming weeks. A massive thank you goes out to every student involved. From our Life Team who cooked and served food, to the performers who gave countless hours of their break times, and to our entire school community for your enthusiastic support, generous contributions, and participation in making this event possible. Truly thank you this event would not be possible without your support.
We look forward to continuing this tradition and celebrating our diversity for years to come.
We had an incredible evening at MEGA CHAPEL, joining with Christian schools from across the Gold Coast and hosted at Emmanuel College. This special event was entirely student-led, with our young leaders taking charge of every aspect of the night. They preached a powerful message, hosted exciting stage games outdoors, served a delicious BBQ dinner, and led worship with a full live band.
King’s Reedy Creek was strongly represented, with more than 250 students from various schools coming together. One of the most moving moments was seeing our future leaders pray for one another during ministry time. We can’t wait for the next MEGA CHAPEL!
