Over the upcoming school holidays, the City of Gold Coast is making safety upgrades to a section of Eden View Drive outside our entrance. Included in these upgrades will be a school zone pedestrian crossing that will be supervised during times when the school zone is active.
This project has been some time in the making and has taken considerable coordination between Council and the Qld Government. We greatly appreciate the efforts of the City of Gold Coast and the Qld Government to achieve this outcome which will greatly enhance the safety of our students who use our Eden View Dr entrance.
The children in our Koalas Pre-Kindy classroom have experienced a truly special learning moment as we watched our butterflies emerge from their chrysalis. After spending time observing the chrysalis and patiently waiting over several days, the children were excited to see the incredible moment when each butterfly slowly wriggled and pushed its way out and unfolded its beautiful wings.
This hands-on experience followed the children’s growing interest in gardens and mini beasts and gave them the opportunity to see the life cycle of a butterfly right before their eyes. Together we talked about how living things grow and change when they are cared for, and the children were able to see that when we look after something, it can grow into something wonderful.
The experience also gave us a lovely opportunity to talk about patience. Our littlest learners at King's waited and watched each day, knowing that sometimes the most special moments take time. When we slow down and wait, something beautiful can emerge.
This moment also reminded us to respect and care for God’s amazing creatures, no matter how big or small. To finish this special experience, the children joyfully released our beautiful butterflies into the big wide world, watching them flutter away into God’s wonderful creation.
Our Year 7 Connect Afternoon at the end of Week 6 was a fantastic celebration of community, connection, and student leadership. Hosted by our incredible Student Leader’s alongside the Culture, LIFE and Chaplaincy teams, the afternoon provided a wonderful opportunity for our newest students to strengthen friendships and continue building a sense of belonging at King's.
Students were warmly welcomed with afternoon tea served by the LIFE team, who did an outstanding job creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment students arrived. Following the welcom, students took part in one of two activities. Some groups participated in an exciting round of laser tag, while others took on the challenge of a ‘SWAT’ played across the school grounds.
As the rain began to fall, we gathered for the sausage sizzle dinner. The evening then concluded with a Q&A session led by our Student Leader’s. These conversations allowed Year 7 students to ask questions, hear advice, and learn from the experiences of our senior students. Our Student Leader’s finished the boys’ session gathering in a circle for a meaningful reflection to close the evening. Meanwhile, the girls’ session was so full of questions and conversation that we didn’t want to bring it to a close!
A big thank you to our Student Leader’s, the Culture, LIFE & Chaplaincy teams for their leadership and service in making the Connect Afternoon such a success. A HUGE thank you to our Year 7 cohort for coming together and celebrating our wonderful school culture. Events like this play an important role in helping our Year 7 students feel known, supported, and connected as they continue their journey at the College.

KTTC Camp 2026 was an incredible experience filled with adventure, laughter, challenge, and connection. Students embraced every opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, building confidence while creating lasting memories.
Throughout the camp, students rotated through a range of exciting activities, including archery tag, dragon boating, mountain biking, and canoeing. Each experience encouraged teamwork, resilience, and a willingness to try something new, with students supporting one another every step of the way.
A standout highlight was the RAW Challenge—an epic obstacle course that tested endurance, determination, and teamwork. Covered in mud but full of smiles, students showed great perseverance and spirit. The visit to the wake park was another favourite, with many enjoying the thrill of cable wakeboarding while others cheered enthusiastically from the sidelines.
Afternoons provided time to relax and connect, with activities such as mini golf, kayaking, tennis, basketball, and board games. These moments allowed students to recharge and strengthen friendships in a fun and supportive environment.
Camp spirit was on full display during the lively Bogan Olympics, where students embraced the fun and let their personalities shine. The Garbage Bag Formal was another memorable event, with teams creating imaginative outfits and enjoying a light-hearted runway filled with laughter and creativity.
Each day also included meaningful devotion time, where students gathered in small groups to reflect, connect, and grow in their faith. The camp concluded with a special chapel service, where students had the opportunity to reflect on their experiences, deepen their spiritual journey, and, for some, make personal commitments in their faith.
KTTC Camp 2026 was a truly enriching experience. It was inspiring to see students demonstrate courage, kindness, and resilience, while friendships deepened and confidence grew.
A heartfelt thank you to our staff and leaders for their dedication, and to our students for the energy and spirit they brought. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
Congratulations to Ben J who has officially signed on with Glen Eden Constructions as a School-based Carpentry Apprentice. After making a strong impression during work experience, Ben was invited back in Year 11 - an opportunity that has since turned into a school-based apprenticeship in Carpentry.
A great example of how commitment and effort can open doors. Ben's dedication and work ethic are already setting him up for success in the construction industry.

Apprenticeship: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
This newsletter edition shines a spotlight on Nathan, who is currently undertaking a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology with GJR Diesel Services. By combining classroom learning with practical, on‑the‑job experience, Nathan is developing the skills required to service and maintain heavy commercial vehicles - laying strong foundations for a future career in the mechanical industry.
1. Why did you choose this apprenticeship? (What interested you about working with heavy commercial vehicles?)
I’ve had a passion for the industry ever since I was little. All I remember from my childhood was hanging out in my dad’s workshop, running around and climbing all over trucks and machinery and getting covered in dirt and grease, I’ve always had an interest in the mechanics behind how it all works and now I’m getting first-hand knowledge for it.
2. After three months in the workshop, what has been the most exciting skill or experience so far?
I think learning to adapt to different work environments is important. Our company offers a breakdown service so we go all over SEQ and into every kind of landscape you can imagine in every kind of weather. From having to use a Side-by-Side buggy to get to the back of a farm in the pouring rain to 40° heat in a service station car park 4 hours away.
3. What parts of heavy vehicle maintenance or repairs are you most looking forward to learning more about?
The general operation and mechanics of the vehicles/equipment, how everything works, what does what, how and why, this gives the ability to diagnose issues by judging the different signs/indicators and with trial and error.
4. How do you think this apprenticeship will help you with your future career goals?
It will enable me to eventually run the family business and/or branch out into a variety of other potential career pathways down the track.
Throughout the start of this term, our primary and high school life teams worked together to put on two incredible fundraising events in support of Rescue Mission for Children Thailand, and You Have a Friend, respectively.
On Friday, the 27th of February, the primary school joined together in support of Rescue Mission Thailand by wearing their favourite sports jerseys and purchasing lunch from the Life canteen. Our primary school Life Team, with lots of helpers from our high school team, gave up time from their classes to serve their peers sausages, donuts and poppers in order to raise money to help in rebuilding the roofs of the facility in Thailand. The students' remarkable efforts garnered a massive feat: $8,850.60, to be donated to Rescue Mission for Children!
The following Wednesday, 4 March, our high school life team, almost 200 students ranging from Year 7 to 12, hosted a BBQ and volleyball competition for the whole of the high school. 6 teams participated in hopes of winning vouchers to the school canteen. These awesome high schoolers, through serving their classmates, raised $4,195.
In addition to the fundraising event in Week 6, high school students were encouraged to compete within their houses against their fellow pc classes to donate the most amount of tinned meals and assorted toiletries. As a whole, the high school donated a whopping 2595 items, exceeding last year's numbers by over 400 items, meaning we were able to donate a monetary value to You Have a Friend of approximately $8,350. With the huge effort from every PC, the four that came out on top were T6, R6, N6, and F10. These four PC classes were rewarded with a prize pack and a can of soft drinks for each student.
