"Oliver was one of the best school productions I have ever seen. King's just keeps raising the wow factor!"

One week on and we are still reminiscing about the spectacular success of OLIVER - our 2022 High School production. Thank you to our incredibly talented cast, dedicated directors, tireless crew and supportive families who all contributed to this wonderful show. Our Director of Performing Arts, Chris Harm, shared more about the journey of this show from concept to completion....

"It is hard to believe that it's been a week since the curtain closed on our school production of ‘Oliver,’ and even harder to believe it’s been a year since our creative team began exploring this story for the stage. In all honesty, this was one of the most challenging processes I have ever undertaken for a stage show of any sort, with the need to often spontaneously and courageously act, react and protect those involved from so many uncontrollable contexts, like floods, infections and other competing commitments. However, our trust and faith in the need for this show to be staged never wavered - and our strength came from faith in God and in each other to do what was needed to the absolute best of our ability. I have seen staff and students sacrifice so much, and as a result, they have learned and grown and connected and flourished in ways that could not have been anticipated at the start of this journey.

Words cannot adequately capture the gratitude and pride I feel for those I worked with, from so many sectors of our college - staff, students, family and friends. I must make a special mention of our creative team, who lived and breathed this show for months, as well as maintaining their working lives on top of this co-curricular load:

  • Musical Director: Mrs Aya Baker
  • Vocal Director: Mr Simon Reddrop
  • Chorus Director & Stage Manager: Mrs Tanya Dobson
  • Choreographer: Mrs Ellia Davis

We acknowledge and thank all those involved, who are listed in the Musical Program below:

And now we move on, with a gap in our lives (and hearts) for a short while as we readjust our weekly schedules. As for next year, we will start exploring some options in a few weeks, and as soon as we have got some ideas, we’ll surely put the word out. Until then, enjoy the precious musical memories and wonderful show tunes that have filled our lives up until this point… We certainly consider ourselves very blessed to have this experience on which we can look back and smile. And we couldn’t ask for more!"
