On Tuesday night, our Early Learning Centre welcomed parents to an engaging pre-prep information session designed to ease the transition into early education for their little ones. Representatives from G's Little OT and Peach Speech QLD attended the event, sharing valuable insights on the importance of early intervention and the developmental milestones children achieve during pre-prep.
Parents had the opportunity to learn about the centre's curriculum and the stimulating activities that contribute to their children's growth and learning. Interactive demonstrations showcased how play-based learning supports essential skills, from social interactions to cognitive development.
The evening was filled with enthusiasm as parents connected with educators and had their questions answered. The Early Learning Centre is committed to fostering a supportive environment that prepares children for a successful start to their educational journey. We look forward to more collaborative sessions that empower our families and enrich our community!
We are thrilled to announce a special lunchtime event recently, recognising the exemplary behaviour of three outstanding Year 4 students! In a celebration of their dedication to our school’s foundational values, these students were awarded a unique opportunity to have lunch with our Head of Primary, Mrs. Sayer, and Head of High School, Miss Baldwin.
During this special lunch, the students enjoyed a delicious meal from Subway, sharing stories and laughter with their esteemed guests. Their commitment to demonstrating kindness, respect, and responsibility has set an excellent example for their peers.
We are incredibly proud of these students, and we encourage all our students to continue to uphold our school values. Congratulations to our winners for their exceptional behaviour and for earning this well-deserved reward! Keep up the great work!
Last week marked the first session of our Junior Engineers program at school, and it was a huge success! The students were thrilled to dive into the world of game development. They had a blast learning how to build and create online games! Seeing their creativity flourish as they brought their ideas to life was incredible. Can’t wait for the next session!
Our Prep students are currently exploring the wonderful animals created by God in a unit titled Creation - Our Marvellous World.
On Friday, 2 May, we were excited to welcome Ocean Life Education to the Prep Centre. This allowed our students to see and touch live marine creatures, participate in hands-on activities, and learn about these fascinating animals engagingly and interactively.
During their visit, students were allowed to touch sea stars, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers, see a bamboo shark, and even pet a freshwater turtle.
This week, our Year 1 students experienced an unforgettable day filled with fun and excitement, thanks to Harmony and Maddie from Street Science! The day's highlight was making their own bouncy and crazy balls using PVA glue. The room was filled with joy and laughter as students embraced the sticky challenge of crafting their creations. The pure delight on their faces when they saw the final product showcased how engaging science can be. It was a wonderful blend of learning and play, demonstrating that scientific exploration can be fun and educational. Thank you to Harmony and Maddie for inspiring our students and providing a memorable experience. Days like these remind us of the joy of learning and the magic of science! Here's to more exciting adventures in the future!
Over the last couple of weeks, our Year 1 students have embraced a variety of fun and engaging learning experiences. From hands-on science experiments to interactive storytelling sessions, the children have excitedly explored new concepts. Whether working collaboratively in groups or engaging in creative arts, their enthusiasm for learning has truly shone through.
In addition to their vibrant classroom activities, we proudly held our Foundational Awards ceremony. These awards recognise students who have exemplified our key values of respect, responsibility, and perseverance. Congratulations to all the award recipients for their hard work and dedication! Each award reflects individual achievement and the supportive and nurturing environment our school strives to create. We are incredibly proud of our students and look forward to more wonderful learning experiences in the weeks ahead!
During Art class, we took learning outdoors with a fun chalk pathway street art activity. Each group brainstormed and designed their unique section of the pathway, focusing on one of our school’s foundational values: Lead, Love, Learn, or Live. Seeing their creativity in action and how they expressed these important values through art was amazing! The smiles and teamwork made it a memorable experience for everyone.
On Tuesday, 12 May, six talented high school students represented us at the Gardiner Interschool Chess Tournament at the Anglican Church Grammar School.
It was an incredible day with strategy, skill, and friendly competition. Our students showcased their hard work and dedication, and it was amazing to see them engaged and supporting one another throughout the event.
A big thank you to the organisers for hosting such a fantastic tournament! We're so proud of our chess high school team for their efforts and sportsmanship. Go team!
On 13 May, King’s took a team of 47 students to Ipswich to compete in the CSSAQ Cross Country Competition. With 12 schools vying for glory, the Athletes were ready to go. All King’s students put in phenomenal efforts throughout the day, with many finishing in the top 20, with each race comprising over 60 students. All students’ effort greatly impacted the result, with our 12 and under athletes finishing 3rd overall in the percentage division, and our 13 and over team was crowned champions for the 2nd in the same division. Thank you to all the parents and guardians for the early morning commitment, and the staff and students for making this a memorable day. Congratulations.
Three of our primary students, Everleigh Nits, Kobi Packer, and Chloe Waldon, represented Kings College with great pride at the Interschool Equestrian SEQ Regional Competition over the weekend.

Celebrating Our Ad Astra Students' Success at the 2025 Da Vinci Decathlon
On Wednesday, 7 May 2025, a team of our Ad Astra students embarked on an early morning journey to Sunshine Coast Grammar School to participate in the prestigious Queensland Regional Da Vinci Decathlon. This elite academic competition challenges students across ten disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography, and Legacy.
Competing against some of the region's top schools, our students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, resilience, and intellectual prowess. We are thrilled to announce that our Year 5 team secured first place in the Creative Producers category, and our Year 6 team achieved third place in the Legacy discipline.
The Da Vinci Decathlon demands a significant breadth of general knowledge, subject-specific expertise, and collaborative problem-solving skills. Our students, referred to as 'decathletes', embraced these challenges with enthusiasm and determination. Despite the rigorous nature of the competition and a two-hour bus journey each way, they returned with smiles, proud of their accomplishments and enriched by the experience of connecting with like-minded peers.
Participation in such competitions is a testament to the strength of our Ad Astra extension program, run by Kim Saul, which provides opportunities for students to engage in advanced learning experiences throughout the year. We commend all our participating students for their dedication and exemplary representation of our school community.
Let's celebrate their achievements and look forward to future successes in upcoming academic endeavours.
What a lovely day we had celebrating our incredible mothers on Friday, 9 May. The morning and afternoon were filled with joy as we hosted a special event dedicated to our King's Mums. Our activities included blowing bubbles, making beautiful bracelets, crafting unique key rings, painting rocks, and much more.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing Army of Dads, who generously volunteered their time to treat our moms to a light breakfast and delicious cupcakes. Your support truly made the day unforgettable!
The Year 3 and 4 were blessed this week with a concert performance from the King’s Pimpama Symphonic Wind Band and the Senior String Orchestra.
After beginning their Orchestral Music Program in Term 1, Year 4 have been eagerly learning and growing in their skill and understanding of Music. The concert was an opportunity for the students to gain a greater understanding of what they are aiming for in their ensembles and to inspire them toward a commitment to practice and dedication to their instruments. The opportunity to see the instrument they are learning being played by senior students was very inspiring.
For Year 3, the concert was the first step in their introduction to the instruments of the orchestra.
Here are the two stories written by Year 4 students :
Last Tuesday, the King's Pimpama high school band and strings orchestra kids came to our school and played their awesome music. I would say the first band song was very dramatic, which I liked. The second one was relaxing and calm. Strings was also dramatic and it sounded like it was from a movie. On behalf of Year 4, thank you for coming. Everyone loved it!

Last Tuesday, the King's Pimpama high school kids came to our school to perform. They started by performing an exciting song from a movie, but I didn't know it. The next song was also from a movie, and I relished it. Next, there were the strings, and the first song was already my favourite because it was highly suspenseful, but then we had to finish. The songs were really great and we all enjoyed it. I would really like to perform like them.

What an inspiring day we had in chapel! Our Prep and Year 1 students were filled with awe as they discovered that God is the creator of the sun, moon, and stars, igniting their imaginations about the beauty of His creation. Seeing their curiosity and wonder as they engaged with such profound concepts at a young age was heartwarming.
Meanwhile, our Year 3-6 students took a deeper dive into their faith, learning that everything God creates has a unique purpose. Their enthusiasm for exploring these ideas was truly contagious! The day was further enhanced by the joyful melodies of new worship songs that filled the chapel, fostering a spirit of praise and celebration.
We thank our amazing chaplain team for their dedication in sharing the gospel and guiding us on this meaningful journey. It’s a blessing to witness our students grow in their faith!
