Our students were excited to see the source of our water and learn first-hand how water gets from the dam to our taps.
After a very informative dam wall walk, students participated in a water pressure experiment, which explained why the wall is so wide at the base.
Fun facts we discovered:
- Hinze Dam has three three-year supply in case of drought and the water depth is currently 60m
- The wall was built in three stages, higher each time
- A fish bucket catches and relocates eels and small fish into the dam as they are prevented from travelling upstream by the dam wall
- Hinze Dam collects and stores water, helps mitigate flooding and is a source of recreation.
On Wednesday, 28 June, students at our high school enjoyed a vibrant and spirited Dress Up Day, where they proudly donned the colours of their state of origin. The excitement was palpable as students showcased their creativity and school spirit. From Maron for Queensland to bold blue and white for New South Wales, the school grounds were awash in a kaleidoscope of colours, representing the students' diverse backgrounds.
The Day commenced with a special chapel session that featured an engaging panel discussion. Mr Oosthuizen took the stage to interview revered staff members Mr Gilmore, Mr Gilbank, and Mr Decan about their faith journeys and how they express their love for Jesus. This heartfelt dialogue allowed students to glean insights into the personal experiences and values that shape the lives of their teachers, reinforcing the importance of community and shared beliefs.
As the Day shifted, excitement built for the much-anticipated friendly rugby match between teachers and students. The atmosphere was electric as teams took to the field, embodying the spirit of competition and camaraderie. In this week’s chapel, we explored the evidence and testimonies that support the authenticity of the Bible.
