REPRESENTATIVE ATHLETICS SEASON
This term we have hit the ground running with our athletics season, kicking off with the Primary Beaudesert Zones trial.
We took 38 students from 4-6 to compete and ultimately earn a spot in the Zone Athletics Team. 11 students were successful from this carnival and were selected to represent the zone at the Pacific District trial. Many PB’s were set that day as King’s looks to develop athletics at the College. Congratulations to Ky Newcomb who received 12yr boys age champion on the day.
Week 3 saw our athletics team compete at the Pacific District Trial held over 2 days at Runaway Bay Performance Centre. The students performed at a high level over the course of the trial and came away with 7 students qualifying for the South Coast Regional trial to be held in week 7. This is the most students we have had represent at this level for athletics which is a testament to their growth and willingness to push themselves to be better. Well done to all students who competed over the 2 days.
Lastly, we had our 9-Open years CSSAQ carnivals held in week 6 at the QSAC. This carnival is a chance for our students to compete as a King’s Team and go up against 12 other Christian schools in southeast QLD. Our 9-12yrs team had some great success improving their overall position from 12th to 6th this year and coming 4th place in the percentage trophy. Our standout performance was the 11yr girls relay team who won their event to top off an outstanding day.
Our 13-Open team competed under lights in testing conditions. All students took it to the other schools and many coming away with top 3 results. Brax Pavokovic finished with 2nd overall age champion for 13yr boys, and the school came away with 2nd place in the percentage trophy.
Thank you to all the students over the past 6 weeks for your efforts in all your events and to the staff for your support on the day as well as trainings. We look forward to going even further next year.
