R U OK? Day - Building Connection Every Day

R U OK? Day gave our King’s Pimpama community time to reflect on connection, friendship and the importance of seeking support early. The message reflects the Student Wellbeing Team’s ongoing work through wellbeing lessons, individual support, small group programs and everyday conversations. Primary students also added yellow and black accessories to their uniforms, creating a bright reminder that care and belonging are part of everyday life at King’s.

In Primary, students explored the qualities of a good friend, including kindness, honesty, empathy, respect, inclusion and trust. They also considered what they can and cannot control in friendships, helping them respond to challenges with greater confidence and care.

High School students reflected on the different seasons of life and the pressures that can arise through study, friendships, family circumstances, health and uncertainty. They were reminded that support is available through teachers, the wellbeing team, counsellors, chaplains, parents and carers, as well as external services when needed.

Students learned that they do not need to have every answer to make a difference. Listening carefully, checking in again and helping someone connect with a trusted adult can be a meaningful act of support.

This year’s message, Ask R U OK? Any Day, reminds us that care is not limited to one event. At King’s, taking time to notice others, listen without judgement and offer support is one way we Love Faithfully and strengthen a culture where every person belongs.
