On 30 July, our Year 11 and 12 Film, Television & New Media students attended the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, an excursion that provided both an exciting cinematic experience and a valuable connection to their classroom learning.
Spider-Man is one of the world's most successful multi-platform media franchises, having evolved from its origins as a Marvel comic into animated series, blockbuster films, video games, streaming content, digital media and merchandise.
This directly relates to concepts explored in the Year 12 FTV Unit 3 curriculum, where students investigate how media industries adapt stories across multiple platforms to engage new audiences, respond to evolving technologies and changing viewing habits, and build globally successful franchises.
The excursion provided students with a real-world example of how storytelling continues to evolve within today's media landscape. It demonstrated how creative content can be reimagined across multiple platforms while remaining relevant and engaging for audiences across generations.
