The start of 2022 may not have lived up to hopes of COVID-free disruptions, but when the time came to return to campus on February 7, the excitement was palpable! Our staff were thrilled to see the College come alive again with the buzz of students, who all seemed excited to meet their new classmates and eager to start a new year of learning, fun and friendship at King's.
We warmly welcome our new families to our school community and pray you have an amazing time at King's. Special thanks to all of our parents who worked tirelessly in the first few weeks to ensure students successfully began their 2022 learning journey using our specialist online resources. This year looks set to be another that keeps us all on our toes, but one thing is certain - God can always be trusted to keep His promises to us of eternal love, everlasting joy and an unshakeable peace through all circumstances!
King's 2021 graduating cohort was known as the Year of Courage, and our College is delighted to congratulate our most recent graduates on their remarkable ATAR results that were released late last year. The ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) is used for university entrance and the highest-ranking score on the 2,000 point scale is 99.95, with increments of 0.05. Our College had 97 students apply for an ATAR ranking, in order to gain entry to university.
Special congratulations to Richard Yang (98.6), Joseph Marescia (98.05) and Ailsa Hartley (97.55) for achieving very impressive overall results, and well done to our students who achieved very high individual subject scores.
The preferred university study areas for our 2021 graduates were:
We would like to acknowledge the collaborative work of our College staff who educated, motivated, encouraged, modelled, prayed for, challenged and applauded the cohort. We also wish to thank our Year 12 parents for the support and encouragement they provided, not just during their final year of schooling but throughout their education journey. The desire of our College is to grow and equip our students to be young men and women who lead, inspire, encourage others, share their faith and become people of influence, and we believe our 2021 graduates are capable of this and much more... Congratulations Class of 2021!
Every year at King's, our Prep students receive their own King's teddy bear to welcome them to their first day of school in the Prep Centre. These adorable teddies are dressed in a mini King's sports shirt and they provide some extra comfort for our brave Prep students as they embrace the new and exciting changes that the first day of school invokes. They also celebrated their Day One milestone with a memorable Teddy Bear's Picnic lunch in the Lower Primary Playground precinct, where our Prep community enjoyed getting to know all of the new friendly faces in the cohort. The special event was a highlight for many of the students during their first week of Prep and is likely to be remembered for years to come.
As part of the College's Master Building Plan, King’s has combined the best of educational innovation and design into an exciting learning precinct for our of Year 3 students. This two-storey facility located next to Noah's Ark will incorporate a technology-rich and engaging environment where our young learners can grow and thrive, as they develop foundational leadership skills.
The Lower Primary Precinct will feature:
We appreciate your support as we build together for tomorrow’s generation of Christian leaders.
Construction is scheduled for completion by January 2023.
The Primary Chaplaincy department is super excited for 2022, run by this year's team including Peter Malcolm, Marc Seboa, Jasmin Farrell, Miguel Oliveira, and their newest member Solomon Guade.
The chaplaincy team is excited to announce their Term 1 theme: 'What Would Jesus Do (WWJD)' which will uncover examples of Jesus' life and character and encourage students to follow in His footsteps. Our 2022 Chapels started with each Primary student receiving a WWJD armband to remind them to be just like Jesus in their everyday life. The team is so excited for an incredible year of encountering Jesus together!
The High School Chaplaincy team are also full of expectation and excitement for what God is going to do through the lives of our students this year in Chapels and across our school. This term, high school and middle school chapels are covering a new theme called 'The Power of Love'. Our heart behind this theme really comes from 1 Corinthians 13:13 which reads, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." We are really eager to dive into this theme to explore the depth of God's love for us, how to love one another well and how to love ourselves as God does.
A warm welcome to the 2022 academic year of High School at King's. The school is now bustling with activity and it has been gratifying to see the enthusiasm of staff and students - both in the classroom and beyond! We welcomed back our Year 12 students three weeks ago, via online learning, and Year 7 - 11 also experienced two weeks of online teaching. While classroom lessons would have been preferable, teachers were still glad to be able to meet so many of our students on Teams. It was wonderful to welcome our Year 7s and new Years 8 - 12 students to an on-campus induction day at the start of term. Year 7 students were clearly excited to be in high school at last and have been particularly enthusiastic. They really enjoyed the “Funny Hat Day” and the “Show Your Pet” experience they had in PC classes! We look forward to seeing this vibrancy continue throughout the year. We are finding it hard to believe it's Week 4 already! By now, all students should be working diligently towards mastering their current content, in preparation for assessment tasks later in the term. As always, we encourage our parents to partner with us by ensuring that your children keep on task so that they can reach their full potential!
Year 12
Bringing our Year 12s back earlier gave them the opportunity to be settled, focused and progressing with their learning by the time our other students returned to school. Our Year 12 students are halfway through their second last unit of work (Unit 3). All the Unit 3 and Unit 4 assessments count towards a student’s final grade and it is pleasing to see so many of our Year 12 students working constructively towards preparing drafts.
Year 11
Year 11 students are halfway through their study of Unit 1. It is important that students engage in their learning to ensure they are appropriately prepared for the Year 12 course. The Year 11 course provides an opportunity for students to ‘bank’ valuable points towards their Queensland Certificate of Education, which is issued at the end of Year 12.
Year 10
In Year 10, students study English, Maths and Science as core subjects and commence ‘taster’ subjects in preparation for their senior courses which commence in Term 4. We encourage students to apply themselves to the subjects they have chosen at subject selection. Later in the year, if necessary, students can apply to change into a subject more suited to their interests, skills, abilities and future pathway.
Year 9
In Year 9, all students study English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Health and PE. This is the first year that Health has been compulsory and we are hearing great feedback from students about this course. Students are always excited to finally have the opportunity to experience elective subjects they have chosen themselves.
Year 8
Now that Year 8 have progressed from being the youngest in the school, they always have fun participating in their next round of rotation subjects. This gives them the opportunity to try more practical subjects, which assist them in making selections for Year 9 electives in Term 3.
Year 7
The Year 7 cohort have made a smooth transition into our high school community. Students participated in a Foundations for Success talk on induction day which focused on the four pillars of learning:
Students were given tips about how to find the assessment schedule, how long to spend on homework, when to start working on assignments, what to do if they are away, etc. Students were also encouraged to attend Homework Lunch and After School Homework and Assignment Assistance sessions [see more about these sessions below or on Compass under Learning].
Jasmine Hawkins (King's 2021 graduate) represented Australia in the 2021 International Jump Rope Union (IJRU) World Championships at the end of last year. This event was postponed from a 'live' event in 2020 to a 'virtual' event in 2021. The results were just released in February and Jasmine placed 5th in the world in the Open Age Female Consecutive Triple Unders event. Jasmine managed to achieve this incredible sporting success while studying for her final Year 12 exams. Congratulations Jasmine! She is now excited to be studying Psychology and Exercise Science at university and also training for the next world qualifying event, which will be held in Darwin in September this year. King's are very fortunate to have Jasmine continue to coach the King's Skipperoos team in 2022.
King’s has reimagined our Easter showcase this year with an exciting new annual event that is about to light up our school stage, King’s Table precinct and Prep Centre. Our inaugural 'King's Easter Fest' is happening on Tuesday, 29 March 2022 from 5pm - 7.45pm and promises to be an evening of celebration and fun.
We look forward to welcoming you to King's for Easter Fest 2022, as we come together as a community, to reflect on the Easter message of hope in Jesus. See you there!

These reasons (and many more) highlight the valuable role that libraries play in our lives and why we celebrate Library Lovers' Week each year at King's.
The 2022 theme is 'Show the Love' and from 21 - 25 February our libraries will run a range of themed activities and competitions, including, 'blind date with a book' for High School,' 'show the love' letters, bookmarks, colouring competitions and prizes.
