King's Pimpama
Championing Academic Potential
The Lumiere Thinkers Program at King's Pimpama is designed to extend and challenge high-ability learners through engaging, purposeful experiences that go beyond the core curriculum. With a focus on curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, the program empowers each student to think deeply, work collaboratively, and tackle complex problems with growing confidence. Through enrichment opportunities, students are encouraged to discover their strengths, build new skills, and connect meaningfully with the world around them.
The program offers a diverse range of lessons tailored to students in Years 4–6, with each experience carefully designed to foster independent thinking and collaborative problem-solving:
Enrichment Programs
- Story Studio invites students to develop their imagination and expressive confidence through an after school creative arts program including drama, creative writing, art and problem solving.
- Ethics Program challenges students to explore complex moral dilemmas, building critical reasoning skills and encouraging thoughtful, respectful discussion.
- Innovators Club engages students in STEM and design thinking, where they investigate real-world problems and develop innovative, practical solutions.
Inter-School Academic Competitions
A highlight of the Lumiere Thinkers Program is the opportunity for selected students to represent King's Christian College in a range of prestigious academic competitions across South East Queensland and beyond. These experiences challenge students to apply their learning in dynamic, team-based contexts:
- Da Vinci Decathlon - students are challenged across ten disciplines, promoting breadth of breadth of knowledge, creativity, and teamwork.
- Ethics Junior Olympiad - a collaborative e-thlete competition where teams analyse real-world ethical dilemmas through structured reasoning and respectful discussion
- Tournament of Minds - a creative and critical thinking problem-solving competition, with students tackling open-ended challenges that require innovation and teamwork.
King's Intercampus Competitions
- King's Challenge Day - An annual event that brings together primary and high school students from across our campuses for a day of critical and creative thinking. Students collaborate in teams to tackle a range of academic challenges across disciplines including science, engineering, English, code breaking, impromptu drama, art, poetry, and the iconic Rube Goldberg challenge. It is a day that celebrates curiosity, teamwork, and the unique potential within every student.
- King's Spelling Tournament - Each year, our top Year 3 to 6 spellers participate in the Prime Minister's Spelling Bee. Our highest performing students are selected to represent their campus in our annual inter-campus King's Spelling Tournament, competing in grade level pairs to win the prestigious King's Spelling Trophy.
