Thank you King's families for another successful year of learning together and all of your support as we welcomed back many of our favourite College events and activities to the school calendar. It was exciting to end the school year on a high with many award nights and celebrations, our Year 12 Graduation and tunnel, the Primary Swimming Carnival, Year 6 Graduation, our Noah's Ark Wriggly Nativity, our exceptional NAPLAN results and many more success stories from across our school. We wish every King's family a happy, healthy and refreshing Christmas holiday break as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Year 12 Tunnel 2022
18 November 2022
King's Year 12 Tunnel is one of the most significant ceremonies for our College and especially our graduating students as they enjoy their final walk through the campus, cheered on by King's staff and their school peers. Friday, 18 November, was that memorable morning for our Class of 2022. They began the traditional 'tunnel' send-off in the auditorium where Chaplain, Mr Muir, prayed over them. Then they walked slowly through the campus to the High School precinct, cheered along the bridge and walkway that was lined with hundreds of students from Kindy to Year 6. Our graduates enjoyed morning tea in High School with Mr Davis, Mr Meyers, Mr Vallance and many of their teachers, who came to reminisce and wish them well. The Year 12s returned back over the bridge toward the front gates, this time cheered on by our high school students and their parents and friends who were waiting for them. The tunnel has been getting longer every year and continues to mark such an emotional moment in every Year 12 student's school journey as they depart our campus for the last time as students. Congratulations to our Class of 2022 - the Year of Solidarity - you made it! Thank you for the legacy you leave in our College community - you will be missed and King's will continually pray for God's richest blessings over your life as you begin your new and exciting adventures.
On Thursday 17 November, our 2022 graduates and their parents gathered for the Year 12 Graduation Dinner at the Gold Coast Convention Centre where they enjoyed a night of recognition, heartwarming memories and a celebration of the cohort's collective success. During the event, a number of special awards were presented to students who have shown exceptional academic attainment, or success in specific pursuits during their time at King's. Our Year 12 Foundation Students (those who have been at King’s since Early Learning or Prep) were all presented with a special gift from our P&F Committee to commemorate having spent their entire schooling at our College. Every Year 12 student also crossed the stage to receive their graduating folio and graduation certificate, marking the end of their school journey at King’s.

Years 3-6 Swimming Carnival 2022
23 November 2022
Blue skies and hot temperatures provided perfect conditions to be in the pool for our Years 3 - 6 Swimming Carnival at Miami Aquatic Centre on Monday, 21 November. The poolside excitement was palpable as our primary students prepared to race and give their best to raise points for their Houses. Our Year 3 carnival newcomers attempted all of their races with courage and perseverance, while our experienced swimmers showed stamina and skill in the pool. House rivalry and supportive cheer continued throughout the day, and with the House Champions title on the line, every student gave their best to collect points. Following a hard-fought contest, Tyndale House finished in FIRST place overall to claim the victory, with Finney following closely in second. Well done Tyndale and congratulations to our exceptional 2022 Swimming Carnival Age Champions and record-breakers!
King's Year 6 students swapped their Primary School uniforms for evening attire on Thursday, as they came together in the King's Table forecourt for their graduation celebrations. This event marked an important milestone for the cohort, as they prepared to finish Primary School and begin their journey as High School students. It was a hot summer's evening as our guests arrived, glowing with excitement for the night ahead. Countless photos were taken with family and friends before the formalities began. King's Reedy Creek Campus Principal, Mr Meyers, and Head of Primary, Mrs Payne, welcomed our guests and presented each student with a personalised Bible and their graduation certificate. As parents departed, students walked the red carpet, through the teachers' guard of honour, into the auditorium to enjoy a two-course dinner, highlights video, fun trivia quiz, and lively dancing. The night was filled with mixed emotions - the joy of reminiscing over many happy memories from their years in primary and the excitement of starting High School, with the sadness of leaving their primary school life behind. Our students have grown so much throughout their learning journey at King's so far. We are so proud of the young men and women they have become and are excited to see all that God has ahead for them.
Thank you to our staff and parents for the incredible journey we have shared together at King’s so far and for all your work in helping create a wonderful graduation celebration for our Year 6 cohort. Thank you students for all that you have brought to our Primary School community over the years. We pray that you continue to thrive as High School students at King's.

Mr Meyers, Campus Principal, and Mrs Payne, Head of Primary, were also honoured to present our new awards to students who had demonstrated exceptional character throughout the past term. These special awards included the King's Kid award, for students who exemplified King's culture, and the Worship Warriors award for demonstrating a personal dedication to growing in their Christian journey. We congratulate all of our Honours Award recipients on your special achievements!
Year 6 Students' Sustainability Showcase
22 November 2022
In Week 7 of Term 4, our Year 6 classes held an Energy Expo in the auditorium to showcase their Project Based Learning exhibitions. The students started the term by selecting a form of energy to study, then worked in small groups to research and explore more about that energy source to consider it's benefits and long-term sustainability. From coal to fossil fuels, wind farms, solar power, and more, the exhibition provided the Year 3-5 student visitors and parent attendees with some interesting information, presented in an exciting and interactive way. The lively ‘TEDish talks' were presented by some enthusiastic and confident students, who took to the stage to share brief snippets of their findings with the audience. This topic was designed to inspire our young people to make our world a better place by understanding different types of energy and it's impact on our planet. Year 6 students excelled in researching and displaying their findings and we congratulate them for finishing their Year 6 learning in such a positive way.

On Friday, 18 November, our Year 3 cohort hosted a culminating event for their parents. Our special guests enjoyed looking over their child’s Term 4 work in the classroom and playing the board game their child had created. Their Term 4 science unit was based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and involved food-related experiments which concluded with students making their own ice cream. Parents finished the culminating event and celebrated the end of Year 3 by enjoying ice cream together in the COLA precinct.
THANK YOU Class Coordinators
18 November 2022
Our Primary Class Coordinator Program has been running for a number of years to help build stronger family connections in the classroom. Once again this year, every primary class at King's had a Class Coordinator parent who generously gave of their time and talents to support our school. We sincerely appreciate these incredible volunteers who have played an integral part in helping to foster the caring community we strive for at King's.
2022 Class Coordinators' Celebration Event
As the school year drew to a close, we hosted a special event to thank our amazing group of parents who served our community in 2022 as Class Coordinators. Mrs Payne, Head of Primary, and our Year Level Coordinators hosted an informal afternoon tea, and Mrs Wendijk, our Lead Primary Art Teacher ran a creative activity for the group, where they produced their own framed artwork. On behalf of our College and all primary parents, we thank you for your valuable contribution to our community this year!
Expressions of Interest for 2023
We are seeking expressions of interest from any King's Primary parent who would like to become a 2023 Class Coordinator. Once classes are finalised in January 2023, we will be able to confirm these roles and will publish the Class Coordinator lists on the relevant private King's Facebook groups. If you would like to express your interest or view the Class Coordinator Handbook to find out more about what's involved, please click on the button below:
Mrs Karen Wendijk has been teaching Art to King’s Primary students for 19 years. She is a much-loved teacher who brings a breadth of experience and creativity to the classroom. Karen believes that God gave her the unique gift of teaching art so that He may be glorified through her classes. ‘Every time I plan a new topic for my Primary School year levels, I consider the curriculum and at the same time, I pray for the wisdom that only God can give. His inspiration leads our budding young artists to create some of the most amazing pieces of art.’
The work and methodology that Karen has demonstrated at King’s has also been recognised across Queensland. Earlier this year, QATA (the Queensland Art Teachers Association) contacted Karen and asked her to become the Primary Art Specialist Coordinator for the State. Honoured by this recognition, Karen has been planning exciting ways to engage and foster more creativity among Primary Art teachers, aligned to the new ACCARA curriculum. On Friday, 11 November, Karen organised a gathering of Primary Art Specialists hosted at HOTA on the Gold Coast. She felt privileged to have over 30 specialist teachers from schools in Queensland attend the event, both online and in-person. She led the group throughout the afternoon into the evening and was encouraged by the support of the attendees and by the future interest of others. ‘This is only just the beginning,’ she said. ‘From this initial event, we decided we would all meet once a term, with a focus on using many of the marvellous mediums that are available to us. We will collaborate and discuss how to implement and plan units using the new ACCARA curriculum V9, and its affect on the Visual Arts.’

Our Years 7 and 8 students had fun creating clay monsters in their Art rotations this year. The monsters are made using a pinch pot technique and need to have two faces. After firing, they are painted in a choice of monochromatic, complementary or adjacent colours. These painted ones are from Term 3 and the unpainted ones are from Term 4. Well done students!
