Suitably qualified teachers are invited to apply to lead our innovative, competent, dynamic and enthusiastic Physical Education Department. Applicants should have the skills required to cast a vision, inspire, lead and operate in a highly functioning Physical Education team.

As a Head of Department at King’s Christian College, you will join a team of dedicated leaders who are committed to a culture of high expectations for all students and staff. As a curriculum leader, your role will focus on the development and enhancement of the quality of teaching and learning, and on maintaining positive relationships between students, teachers and and our school community. You will play a vital role in shaping learning across different subject areas and all year levels 7-12, to ensure students have the skills, knowledge and creativity to succeed.

The ideal applicant for this position will:

  • Lead the department, as a professional learning team, to develop and provide quality learning outcomes for all students
  • Enhance the pedagogical and assessment practices of department staff through feedback from lesson observations and internal moderation processes
  • Be an exemplary teacher who displays competency, proficiency and innovation in the classroom and outdoors, including the use of technology
  • Be an effective reflective practitioner who displays strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance through the regular collection and analysis of department feedback and data
  • Build on partnerships with parents and businesses to enhance the development of real world skills and knowledge

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated teaching competence and capacity to lead a department/peers in developing curriculum that engages, challenges and provides quality learning outcomes for all students
  • Demonstrated ability to teach one or more of the Year 11 and 12 QCAA Senior Physical Education syllabuses
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop and sustain productive relationships within and beyond the school community
  • Capacity to collect, and reflect on, data to enhance educational outcomes
  • Capacity to manage effectively human, financial and physical resources
  • Demonstrate strong administrative skills, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability
  • A thorough knowledge of Physical Education curriculum
