King's Trade Training Centre (KTTC)
King’s Trade Training Centre (KTTC) provides two educational pathways for senior students. Your pathway options are dependant on your year level of entry. Students must select one of the following two pathways:
- Sport Development Program - Year 11 and 12 students who are passionate about sport can achieve certificates and diplomas in sport and business with the option of direct entry in pre-approved Bachelor degrees at university.
- Trade Training - Years 10 - 12 students who are pursuing trade qualifications can get a head start on their career and graduate with a Queensland Certification of Education (QCE).
Sport Development Program
KTTC’s new Sport Development Program will launch in 2024, designed for sports enthusiasts passionate about pursuing a career in the diverse industry of sport.
The two-year program offers Year 11 and 12 students an alternative pathway. Through an engaging blend of certificate and diploma qualifications, hands-on sports experiences and collaboration with industry experts, students will engage in dynamic and transformative senior schooling.
Graduating students will not be eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), but they will have the skills and qualifications to commence work or undertake additional tertiary studies through direct entry to Gold Coast universities.
The Sport Development Program operates four days off-site and students must have their own transport to the venue. Year 11 students will attend Reedy Creek campus on Friday morning with the option to participate in APS sport in the afternoon. Year 12 students are encouraged to gain paid employment or industry placement on Fridays to add their education qualifications.
Sport Development Program students who complete the full two year program* will graduate with the following qualifications:
- Certificate II Sport & Recreation
- Certificate II Outdoor Recreation
- Certificate II Coaching
- Certificate III Fitness
- Officiating
- Diploma of Business
- Diploma of Sport
*There will be an intake for both Year 11 and Year 12 students in 2024. Year 12 students will only complete the Diploma of Business and the Diploma of Sport.
Trade Training Pathways
KTTC provides educational pathways for students from Years 10 - 12. Students can enrol at KTTC in Year 10 or 11, while apprenticed students may commence in Year 12.
KTTC students complete Year 12 with the following qualifications:
- Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE);
- Certificate II in Skills for Work & Vocational Pathways;
- Certificate II in Work Place Skills (Business);
- Certificate II in their chosen trade and
- The commencement of a Certificate III in a school-based apprenticeship/traineeship in their chosen field, with the strong possibility of going straight into employment.
VET Based Learning
KTTC students are enrolled with the relevant registered training organisation (RTO), delivering the vocational education and training (VET) course the student has chosen.
Our Training
Students attend KTTC two to four days a week to study Essential Mathematics, Essential English and various Certificate II courses.
They attend trade training one day a week and up to two days in industry placement, either as work experience or a school-based apprenticeship/traineeship. The Trade Certificate II is completed in Year 11 and the Certificate III is commenced mid-Year 11 or Year 12, with an emphasis on placing students in school-based apprenticeships/traineeships as soon as possible.
Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
The QCE is Queensland's senior school qualification and is awarded to eligible students by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Students must successfully complete a minimum of 20 credit points from a combination of courses, including:
