Trade Training Centre

Based at King's Reedy Creek campus, King’s Trade Training Centre (KTTC) offers an alternative to mainstream schooling. We are ideal for students who do not intend to obtain an ATAR and apply for a university course straight after Year 12. We prepare our students for employment.

Mr Glenn Maleham

"KTTC provides a supportive framework to help students transition successfully into adulthood with employable skills, and confidence."

- Mr Glenn Maleham, Director of KTTC

Learn a trade while finishing school

KTTC provides educational pathways for students from Years 10 - 12. Students can enrol at KTTC in Year 10 or 11, while apprenticed students may commence in Year 12.

KTTC students complete Year 12 with the following qualifications:

  • Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE);
  • Certificate II in Skills for Work & Vocational Pathways;
  • Certificate II in Business;
  • Certificate II in Hospitality
  • Certificate II in their chosen trade and
  • The commencement of a Certificate III and a school-based apprenticeship/traineeship in their chosen field, with the strong possibility of going straight into employment.

VET Based Learning

KTTC students are enrolled with the relevant registered training organisation (RTO), delivering the vocational education and training (VET) course the student has chosen.

Our Training

Students attend KTTC two to four days a week to study Essential Mathematics, Essential English and various Certificate II courses.

They attend trade training one day a week and up to two days in industry placement, either as work experience or a school-based apprenticeship/traineeship. The Trade Certificate II is completed in Year 11 and the Certificate III is commenced mid-Year 11 or Year 12, with an emphasis on placing students in school-based apprenticeships/traineeships as soon as possible.

Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)

The QCE is Queensland's senior school qualification and is awarded to eligible students by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Students must successfully complete a minimum of 20 credit points from a combination of courses, including:
