3x3 CBSQ Primary Schools Tournament News

Pimpama

For the first time, Kings Pimpama competed in the 3x3 Primary CBSQ tournament. We took two teams which included some of our top athletes in Year 6.

Our Division 1 team got off to a good start beating Varsity, Citipoint and St. James to secure the top spot in Day 1 in their group, finishing the day with 3 wins and 0 losses.

The next day didn’t go as planned as our top scorer and rim protector Stephen O'Connor was absent due to illness. With only 3 players and no subs, our boys tried their best but missed out on a quarter-final appearance, losing to Hillcrest and having to face a 3-way tie between Kings, Hillcrest, and Citipoint who all had one loss. Unfortunately due to our "for and against" we finished 3rd in our pool which forced us out of the tournament.

It was a disappointing end but Elijah H, Griffin W, Zanden B, did a great job ending the tournament with some friendly games and getting one last win before it was over.

Our Division 2 team got off to a tough start with a controversial draw to Scarborough. They then lost a tight game to St Joseph's by 1 point. They finished the tournament going down to a strong Faith Lutheran team.  Emmaus W, Cooper M, Mason P, and William M all played extremely well. It was just a few little mistakes towards the end of games that lost it for us in the end, but the boys all gave their best efforts and gained a lot of experience in the process.
