King's Hosts Renowned Musician for Annual Strings Workshop

Performing Arts

King's Pimpama campus hosted our College's annual Artist in Residence intercampus strings workshop on Monday, 10 July. This event brought together 81 talented student musicians from across our three campuses who all enjoyed learning from internationally-acclaimed composer and conductor, Soon Hee NewboldSoon is best known for her exceptional skills as a composer and conductor and has been recognised worldwide for her contributions to the music industry. Her musical journey began at the age of 5 when she started learning the piano. Over the decades, Soon has graced the stage as a concert artist and composer, performing with professional ensembles across the globe.

King's Artist in Residence program gives our students a unique opportunity to learn from renowned musicians and this exposure to world-class talent develops their musical skills but also instils a greater aspiration. By inviting accomplished artists like Soon Hee Newbold, the program helps students explore different perspectives on their playing and performance abilities. King's Strings Music Teacher, Mr Chislett, expressed his appreciation for the program and its significant role in broadening our students’ musical understanding and performance skills:

"The Artist in Residence program enables students to interact with musicians who have achieved remarkable success in their careers, providing them with valuable insights and guidance. The workshop was an invaluable experience for our students and we look forward to hosting more events like these in future."
