Three King’s ensemble groups performed at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod recently. This was a fantastic experience for all the performers, and they represented our school admirably.

Overall Results

  • Senior Flutes - 1st
  • Junior Flutes - 3rd
  • King's String Quartet - Very Highly Commended

Michelle Huang's Eisteddfod Success 

Michelle Huang (6RB) competed in a variety of recent Eisteddfods including Redlands, Ipswich, Beenleigh and Gold Coast, where she performed on piano and cello. Michelle’s skill on these instruments produced the following results:

  • 1st in Jazz/Pop/Latin - 2nd in Own Choice- at Redland Eisteddfod
  • 3rd in Sonata and Sonatina- Ipswich Eisteddfod
  • 1st in Redlands Eisteddfod- Piano Jazz /Pop/Latin style 11 years
  • 1st in Quota Beenleigh Eisteddfod-Australian Composer 10-11 years 
  • 2nd in Redlands Eisteddfod-Piano Own Choice 11 years
  • 2nd in Quota Beenleigh Eisteddfod-Piano duet
  • 3rd in Ipswich Eisteddfod-Piano Solo-Music of the 20th Century and beyond-12 years and under
  • 3rd in Quota Beenleigh Eisteddfod-Piano Memorised 10-11 years
  • 3rd in GC Eisteddfod-Cello/Double Bass Solo: 11 to 13 years

As a cellist, Michelle is a member of the King’s String Quartet which received a Very Highly Commended for their performance at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. Michelle is also a member of the King’s Chamber Ensemble. Well done Michelle!

Anson Kung Eistedfodd

Anson Kung recently competed in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod and was awarded 1st place in the 13-15 years Strings Championship and 3rd place in the 13-15 years Violin/Viola Solo. Anson was also a member of the King’s Strings Quartet which received Highly Commended in their competition. Congratulations Anson on another outstanding achievement!

Alana Lim

Alana Lim (4RC) recently competed in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod in the Under 10 Strings, performing on the Violin, and was awarded Highly Commended. Well done Alana!
