Gold for Rebecca in Gold Coast Legal Competition
The Gold Coast Schools Legal Essay Awards Ceremony was held on Tuesday, 10 October, to award the finalists and winners from this year's prestigious legal writing competition. We are proud to announce that King's Year 12 student, Rebecca Webb, won the first place prize this year for her outstanding essay and collected the perpetual school trophy. SPG Lawyers and Griffith University have co-sponsored this competition since 1996 as an avenue for Gold Coast students to practise writing, researching and submitting legal essays that deal with national and international legal issues. Once again, the entries attracted an exceptionally high standard of work and the winners were presented with their prizes and trophies at SPG Lawyers offices in Bundall. Special guests included the student finalists, their parents, and staff from SPG Lawyers and Griffith University. Prizes and trophies were presented by Mr Tony O’Connor, Partner at SPG Lawyers - Prof Therese Wilson, Dean of Law, Griffith University - Dr Samuli Haataja, Deputy Head of School (Research) - and Judge Bernard McCabe, Deputy President, Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Congratulations Rebecca on this amazing achievement and thank you to the competition sponsors SPG Lawyers and Griffith University for providing this unique opportunity to our senior students!
