Noosa Girl's Eco Camp Trip

Pimpama

At the end of Term 3, twelve Year 9 and 10 students travelled up the coast for our Noosa girl’s trip. We began our trip with a hike up Mt Ngungun.  The view at the top was spectacular.  After this outing, we proceeded to our accommodation at the Habitat Noosa Everglades Eco Camp, which is 25 k north of Noosa Heads. Situated amongst 65 km of National Park, the Everglades, has a picturesque view of Lake Cootharaba where we spent much of our free time watching and admiring the sunset or sunrise at this ultimate wilderness experience.

With an early start to our second day, we hit the ground running with surfing. We entered the ocean with many sceptics and doubts about our first activity.  We left the ocean with a new fondness for the sport.  Later, mountain biking was a great way to end our day.  We cycled along the trail around the park and the lake, which will be a highlight forever imprinted into our minds from this awesome scenic route.

During this trip, evening devotions were a time to understand the reason why we were here at camp. Devotions had a personal touch on the small group who went on the camp this year. Each night was memorable in its own way and was a great way to end every night. We heard from each staff member on the trip, and it was a great way to get to know our teachers.

Our memorable day of the trip was the Fraser Island Day tour.  We awoke nice and early to begin the drive to Fraser. Upon our arrival we went to Lake Mackenzie, where we spent a few hours with the Fraser Island Trip Boys, playing games and swimming.

After our time away, we were ready to come home.  However, before the return trip, we spent the last day exploring Noosa’s popular Hastings Street enjoying lunch and shopping. Time really did fly by fast. Before we knew it, we were saying goodbyes to our friends back at the campus.
