R U OK? Day Celebrated at King's Pimpama

At King’s we brightened our campuses with yellow and black balloons, to raise awareness for ‘R U OK?’ Day on Thursday, 8 September. This annual campaign emphasises the importance of being intuitive to the mental health of those around us so we can support friends who may be struggling. Throughout the week, we reinforced this message with some special events and giveaways.

Students were taught to break the stigma of mental health by supporting their peers and being reminded that there are no qualifications for asking ‘R U (really) OK?’ - just a willingness to listen and find a trusted adult for help. At Pimpama, guest speakers included recovery coach, Jess Dyson from Redefined Coaching, Amanda Giblin from Livin, and Ps Matt Treagus from King's Church. At Reedy Creek, our Life Team served pancakes before school and our Primary students received R U OK? stickers. Our Wellbeing staff and Chaplains were out and about before school and during break times throughout the week, making themselves available for conversations and connections.

Is someone you know struggling? Ask them ‘R U OK?’ and spark a conversation today that could change a life. Visit ruok.org.au for more information and helpful resources.
