Second King's Golf Day - A Big Hit!
The second King's Golf Day was a big hit with the 110 players who enjoyed a wonderful start to the Winter school holidays on Monday 20 June 2022 at The Club at Parkwood.
$2500 of JB Hifi vouchers and prizes, Drummond Golf Vouchers and donations from King's Pimpama P&F for $300 in Bunnings vouchers and an array of prizes were up for grabs for the top eight winning teams, and over 30 lucky door prizes made for a fun event.
The course, which King's had exclusivity use of, was beautifully manicured after recent summer rains. Before the teams teed off in the morning sun, they enjoyed a delicious bacon and egg roll and were briefed by the Golf Pro, Mr David Roche. Players jumped into their golf buggies for 18 holes of friendly, yet serious, game of golf based on the Ambrose format.
The competition was high among many of the King's staff, with certain teachers keen to tame King's Pimpama Principal, Mr Rob Verreynne and his sons, who love their game of golf.
The title for the best-dressed team was won by Who's Your Caddy (Kylie Fitzgerald, Allegra and Carter Hayden and Shonel Alloway) who stole the show in their fluorescent-coloured tracksuits and 1980's wigs.
The winning team with 58 points was the SAFAUS team of Daniel Oostendorp, Wesley Stoltz, Raffaele Sparapano and Craig Smith, who each won a $200 JB Hifi voucher, Box of King's Calloway golf balls, King's umbrella and a mini bragging trophy.
Second place went to Bank of Queensland Nerang Mall on 59 points. Bank of Qld Nerang Mall team player, Taffy, also took out the longest drive on the 18th hole. In 3rd place was Team Banditos on 60 points followed in 4th place by the best-dressed team, Who's Your Caddy. The top 3 teams all received JB Hifi vouchers, golf balls and umbrellas. While the 4th place team each took home a round of golf from The Club at Parkwood, a King's umbrella and some golf balls.
Mr Verreynne's team, Vee I P's, which included his sons Jayden (Year 11) and Ruben (Year 9) came in 5th place.
The remaining 3 team prizes, (6th to 8th place) went to Just Tap it in, The Varaina Tamers (King's Pimpama's Mr Anderson and Mr De La Mare's team) and team, Those who can't teach, Golf were King's Pimpama and Reedy staff - Mr and Mrs Snowdon, Mr Josh Ruben and Mr Tom Bristow-Wilson - who we know are all excellent teachers and not too bad at golf either!
The Nearest-the-Pin winners were Brent Millar on hole 16, Wesley Stoltz on hole 13 and Reedy Creek Year 5 student, Oliver Zhang on hole 7 with a hit of 167m. At our inaugural event in 2021, Oliver also took home this prize.
The mini-golf prize went to the Hannon family, a Year 2 King's Pimpama family who joined us on the day and the Build-A-Burger luncheon. Congratulations to Mr Grahame Anderson, Year 2 Leader Teacher at Pimpama, for taking home the main lucky door prize - a double air fryer from JB Hifi - on his wife's birthday!
Well done to all our players. We look forward to seeing you at the event in 2023. Until then, Happy Golfing!
