Semester One - It’s a Wrap!

What a wonderful semester we have had in high school! As restrictions have continued to ease, students and staff embraced many opportunities to participate in the full range of activities on offer at King's, both on and off campus.

TERM 2 HIGHLIGHTS

Guest speakers

  • Justin Coulson talked to students about wellbeing, resilience and attitude
  • Bond Uni Psychology Lecturer
  • We welcomed a variety of guest speakers into classrooms via Zoom or Teams

Experiential learning - excursions to locations including:

  • Year 12 Business to Dreamworld
  • Year 11 Science in Practice to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Year 10-12 Geography Fieldwork
  • Year 10 Digital Art to Burleigh Heads
  • Year 10 Modern History to the Museum of Brisbane

  • Year 8 Japanese Cultural Day on campus

Extending on Classroom Learning

  • Year 12 English Masterclasses for 6 weeks after school

Assistance opportunities for students saw increased attendance at

  • After School Homework and Assignment Assistance sessions

For the first time, our students completed NAPLAN and our annual Whole School Testing online. The online approach allows teachers to receive the data much more quickly and enables King's to tailor teaching and learning programs quickly to cater for the needs of individual students and entire cohorts.

Looking ahead to Term 3

Term 3 promises to be a busy term, particularly for our Year 12 students who will be continuing to diligently submit their final assessment pieces and prepare for their external exams. We continue to pray for our senior students as they move closer to the end of their time at school.
