Term 1 Library Events

Library

Term 1 is an exciting time for the King’s libraries. We will be celebrating two major events in February this year.

The first is Queensland School Library Week in week 3. This is a week that aims to highlight the important work of school libraries and school library staff in Queensland.

This year King’s Libraries will be participating in the Queensland School Library Week art competition. We will be awarding prizes in each category, and the winners will have the opportunity to submit their artwork into the state-wide competition.

Art competition details:

  • Prep – Year 2 - What is your favourite story? Draw or paint a picture to illustrate this. Your picture should be on an A4 sheet of paper.
  • Year 3 – Year 6 - Produce an artwork to reflect the theme ‘Light the Way’. Year 7 – Year 12 - Produce an artwork or take a photograph to reflect the theme ‘Light the Way’.
  • All entries are due back to the library by Friday the 20th of February

For more information, please talk to a library staff member or visit the Queensland School Library website https://www.qsla.org.au/qslw

The second major library event is Library Lover’s Week in week 4. This year the theme for Library Lovers’ Week is ‘Libraries Make Life Sweet’. We will be celebrating all the reasons why we love libraries and all the ways they make life sweeter.

In this week we will have competitions, lots of prizes, blind dates with a book and a prize wheel. We would love to encourage all students to visit the library during this week to be a part of the celebration.

We are looking forward to these and many more fun library events in 2026!
